i am new to all this and i just have a question in terms of which e30 model is best to start with. Is there any difference between converting a m20b20 or a m20b25 to an m30 engine. E.g are wiring harness etc the same between the two models. As 325i's are pretty rare and expensive in Western Australia

and 320's can had relatively cheap. Sorry if this is a very broad question just exploring my options.

I converted mine from a 320 and it was straight forward, I think the only difference is that you will need a gear shifter mechanism from a 325 iirc. As far as I'm aware, a facelift manual 6 pot is the easiest car to convert (assuming you are going for a manual box on the m30 of course!)

Yer a manual 325i is best so you have bigger brakes and also can re-use the 325i prop and gear linkage with the M30 box.
you either need to change the GB output flange for the smaller e30 one, or modify the prop. Changing the output flange is easiest.
Couple of wiring mods all detailed in the info on this site.
Custom engine mounts and a thin e28 535i radiator and down pipe are best.
Lecky fan needed also
Have fun
