Is it possible to take the head off of an m30 engine while the engine is in the car (e30), in position 3? Looks like it should be but not tried it yet so not sure if there is anything stopping the head coming off?

If you run into problems you can drop the subframe an inch or so to give you clearance.

That write up is brilliant, makes it look straight forward. No reason why you couldn't have a HG change done in an afternoon with an extra set of hands.

Why you removing the head Jer?

It easier than working on an m20 or m40 in the same bay.

Yea that write up is very good if you haven't done one before, lots of detail. The head would only be coming off for performance enhancements
