My M30 conversion sometimes is chugging. So bad in fact that the minute you put your foot to the accelerator the engine wants to cut out. Often a misfire can be heard. This could happen on a few occasions and then nothing for a week. But as of late its happening more and more.
Another symptom would be if its chugging and you allow it to reach the ideal running temperature (half way point on your temp gauge) and you shut off the engine the car becomes hard to start. I have an electric fan fitted and it has to be on for you to stand any chance of starting it. What could it be. I'm assuming its probably a sensor issue saying its quite intermittent and not happening all of the time. Also my idle isn't great. Not a mad idle but not smooth either.
That's about all the symptoms I can think of, any one with any ideas I will be glad to read them.
Any 335 owners had this problem?

I had an E34 535iSE with a similar problem. I tried swapping to a later motronic 1.3 179 ECU which helped alot (the original was the Motronic 1.1 150 ECU, fitted with a Superchips chip, and it had had some dodgy repairs done to the PCB tracks). I also tried swapping the aftermarket adjustable fuel pressure regulator for a standard BMW one, which curiously, made it worse as it ran ridiculously rich, so I went back to the adjustable one.
Nevertheless, it always seemed to run a bit rich, but went pretty well otherwise.
Also check the blue temperature sensor, engine earth to body strap and the usual service items - dizzy cap, rotor arm, spark plugs, etc.

The main earth from the engine to the body was all split so I replaced this so Im hoping this fixes my problem. I will post again if it doesn't but fingers crossed it was this simple problem.

It's surprising how many people overlook the fact that the engine needs a good earth in order for the electrics to work properly!
They waste countless hours and £££ replacing the sensors, getting diagnostic checks, etc, etc., when often it is something that simple and cheap to rectify.
Anyway, fingers-crossed this will solve your problem...
