I know it's been said many times that an M10 gearbox can used on an M30, but has anyone done it and what flywheel/clutch can be used?

That's what I was wondering and how does the M10 clutch hold up to the M30 torque? Has anyone any first hand experience?leeparkes wrote:How much can these M10 boxes handle?
The stock clutch will not handle a B35 , maybe a B28.
Gearbox can handle LOTS´s

A 335i I built back in 2006 has a M10 box, has been drifted all this time and been a general playtoy and the m10 box is still just fine.

That's all I wanted to know. I was bidding on a 735i auto E32 on ebay, but didn't win anyway. I'll keep an eye out for another cheap one.
you need a new m10 clutch.
The flywheels between M10 and M30 are the same size , but the surface for a clutch on the M10 one is smaller then on a M30 one , the larger pressure plate get´s in the way of the M10 box.

I used a Spec Stage III clutch and it handles things just fine.
Now though I´d find a sacshs m10 performance clutch and possibly a 6 puck disc

Good info this, it took me ages to find my replacement M30 gearbox. M10 boxes are fooking everywhere, i know of 3 off the top of my head.
Im also guessing the M10 fly/clutch set up is quite light too.
Is the M10 prop and linkage used?
Mmmmm...

felt so proud, even tried it with a E30 325i and got put in my place..
in a E30 I used a M20 driveshaft with the M10 gearbox on the back of a M30 engine.
I don´t know if a M10 DS would do the same.

I' should note.
The M20 shaft i used is from a 320i E30
NOT a 325i.
