My Dad's mate owns a scrap yard so it will be going on a weighbridge, hopefully they won't lift it off with a forklift and hand me £120!

I haven't fitted it yet...
I bought it as I'm collecting parts to add oil pressure/temp guages, and the oil can has the right tappings to fit the senders

haha, that thought had crossed my mind.. attach some ribbon so it looks like a wedding car & they'll double check.
out of interest, what sensors are you having? are you going the analogue route or would you like a digi vent stylee thing going on?

I'll get it weighed as soon as I can, am interested to know
Barx, I'm using analogue ones, got a set of the Audi Coupe VDO gauges, just got to get senders sorted to get them fitted.

Has interior, heavy dog guard rear blind thingy, spare wheel present as well as gas tank, towbar setup, few tools in the boot cubby holes. not a light combination!

Car went well yesterday at the trackday, engine was faultless, but need a more powerful cooling fan as it was getting pretty hot when coming off the track after the cooling down lap.
Had a play with an Impreza turbo and a e36 328 which was fun
The brakes are brilliant, very glad I went for the upgrade, not a hint of fade. Also better tyres and coilovers are on the shopping list next and definitely need to get my e46 rack fitted soon!

You can squeeze a viscous fan onto an E30 with an M30. Waterpump from an E9 and a skinny Merc fan. BMW couldn't do it but Hartge managed.Bristol_Jer wrote:Car went well yesterday at the trackday, engine was faultless, but need a more powerful cooling fan as it was getting pretty hot when coming off the track after the cooling down lap.

I think they did it by using a thicker rad that sat under the slam panel.
Rav posted something up a while ago of an E30 M30 with a viscous fitted, on youtube iirc.
Cool pics.

Alpina rad

Here's the thread Rav posted up

What rad and fan are you using now Jer? have you removed the bonnet seal that goes round the wings and over the scuttle?

I've got a new e28 M535i rad, and running a 14" (I think) cheap electric fan which isn't upto the job. Bonnet seal is still on there, is it worth taking this off to let some heat out from under the bonnet?leeparkes wrote:

Ive got an E34/32 air con fan and when i speed it can suck
With the seal removed your left with about a 10mm gap all round to help let the heat escape, just try it and see, i removed mine when we had the hot weather a few weeks ago and the fan wasnt on half as much.
Also is you fan flat against the rad?

When this rain ever stops I'll measure the fan and see what size it is. It is either a 14" or 16" I can't remembermartijn76 wrote:14" is just too small (I also got the e28 rad).
At first I was using a 14" Kenlowe, but it never turned off again..
Now I'm running a 16" Spal, job done. I even closed the bonnet a bit more with evo seals.

Nice idea I'll take the seal off. When at speed round the track even on a hot day the temp doesn't go over half way on the gauge, it's when you slow down that the temp starts climbing pretty quickly, so getting more heat out from under the bonnet would definitely help. Don't want to go the bonnet vent route as even though it is just a fun/trackday car I want to keep it looking as standard as possible from the outside.leeparkes wrote:Ive got an E34/32 air con fan and when i speed it can suck![]()

It is a 14" fan on there at the moment, I'll sort out getting a decent 16" one on there. Got another long to-do-list written up now with lots of jobs to do on the car!

New 16" Kenlowe fan ordered up and oil changed to Magnatec thanks to the Halfords deal, next track outing is 22nd of September, after which I'll be taking the car off the road for a while to fit my e46 rack, fit DIY coilovers on the front using the mk2 escort kit, and a load of other jobs that need doing

That's why my bonnet is vented, people take the piss, but it defo helps cool the lump down.Bristol_Jer wrote:Nice idea I'll take the seal off. Trackday saturday so I will find out if my fan upgrade has done the trick! Ordered a set of these to convert my front struts to coilovers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150874619506? ... 1497.l2649. Should be able to get some front springs more suited to the extra weight of the m30 now
Next on the list is a set of semi-slicks and a nice chunky front ARB
