Not sure If this has been covered before but I can't find anything on it:

Does the Z3 / Z4 short shifter fit on the M30 gearbox?

Thanks in advance :thumb:

Yes the gear shifter will fit if you keep the existing linkage. Personally i preferred standard after trying this though, cheers.

Did you? which one did you fit?

I remember fitting one to an E36 (can't remember which one :o: ) and the throw was non-existent and it was notchy as hell! The customer was happy enough with it..

I used a 1.9 Z3 shifter with my M30 (E34 'box) and it was just right.

Same here Gareth, and I renewed all the little bushes as detailed in the wiki guide, that made a nice difference too :)

It's the 1.9 one I think. I think it works pretty well, its not too short and feels good :)

Is fitting it any different to fitting on a normal 325i or is there anything different that has to be done due to it being an M30?

No it's the same, only thing is if you are doing it with m30 engine/box in situ then it's a fiddly job! I'd definitely recommend doing all the little bushes and plastic bits at the same time
