Ok, you need to list a few things here so we can understand what your trying to achieve
1. does the starter motor have 3 terminals?
2. does the engine loom have a Black/Green wire near the starter with a 5mm ring terminal on it?
3. does the body side of the C101 have a wire in Pin 15? (it should have as its a 318is)
If the answer to all the above is yes then you simply connect the wire to the starter and your done

1.yes starter has 3 terminals
2.m30 engine loom has small insulated wire with ring and is already fitted to 8mm nut
unsure on colours check tomorrow night
3.body side has wire in pin 15 (grn/blk)
am i aready done jus connect body and engine c101
thanks for helping

There's a possibility of confusion here. Dan means three terminals on the solenoid that you connect wires to, plus the second 8mm stud (13 mm nut) that connects to the starter motor body by a copper strap or braid.k20trew wrote:1.yes starter has 3 terminals
Older style motor solenoids only had three terminals, including the second 10mm stud.
I don't believe the blk/brown pin 15 from engine loom of c101 does go to 8mm on starter as the only wire connected here is blk/grn !
So I will pull pin out from body/fuse box c101
Then extend wire and put on 5mm (8mm nut) of starter solenoid !
So I am correct in thinking that blk/brown and black/green both pin 15 of c101 don't need a connection
Hence pulling blk/green out from c101
Thanks guys

Leave the black/brown connected at pin 15 of the C101 of the engine loom, and trace it along the loom. When you have sufficient wire to comfortably reach the starter motor, cut it re route it to the starter, attach a 5mm ring terminal to it, and connect it to the solenoid.

Does the engine loom you are using have a 'C101' plug on it that will fit into the socket on an E30?

I've made some enquiries, and have been told it's an alternative unloader relay control circuit on some auto M30s, running between the gear selector, ECU, start relay and instrument cluster.k20trew wrote:Great thanks ! Where does the blk and brown go ?
Just curious before I cut it
Just cut it, as above, and route it to the starter solenoid.
