Hi guys done a M30 conversion 18 months ago... 89 uk import car was the donor ,m10 box
I keep the engine cool with just a early E30 aircon condenser fan... An that's on hot days aswell

My question is the guy I bought it off siad this particular car does not use a 02 sensor...??
It has the plug for one just next to the starter( the round plug) and even has a socket that would normaly have the wires for the 02 plugged into it...
Would this guy be telling porkys ??? Should it have one?

This is on the M30 engine loom?

E30 engine looms from around 89 have all the wiring ready for the 02 sensor, its just left tucked away unused on most (cats and therefore 02 sensors were a requirement from 92 in the uk). I'm not sure on E34 stuff, but would think being of a similar age, BMW would of done the same thing.

All UK E34 M30s were 'cat prepped' I.E the engine loom had the all the oxygen sensor wiring and plug down near the starter with a blanking cap fitted.

Only the later UK cars actually had cats.

Ok cool I've pulled all the M30 wiring out now and adapted late M20 motronic wiring in it I hid all the relays behind the 318 bulkhead cover so the engine bay looks soo much neater and the wiring is the right length
Main reason I did this was the wiring was just wAy to short and it always bugged me
Just got to put the new exhaust on with the O2 hole then put all the wiring from the same M20 car
Sounds like a big job but I was was starting to have problems with the harness that was in it
