hello chaps
much needed help.
bought an e30 touring m30b35 which wasnt running and needed a megasquirt map to run the car so i bought the car without hearing it or seeing it run.
the guy i bought the car from is a very honest guy and said that all the car needed to run was a decent map.
on picking up the car we noticed that the car had less than 10psi of fuel pressure so we fitted a 5 bar pump and a very helpfull guy called shaun put a basic map on the car to get it started.
on startup the car knocks and bangs like a bast*** and this was getting worse and worse. we already checked the level of oil which was fine but smelt funky. we dropped the oil out and it was like piss very grey and runny. we put more oil in and done a flush and then replaced with high end oil and ran it for about 3 minutes or so and the oil once again turned to grey/runny. the noise from the engine sounds much like piston slap but not knowing much about these engines i have no idea.
anyone got any suggestions?
can i still purchase rebuild kits for these engines??
m30b35 possible help

Imo unless the engine is heavily modded, ie with cams headwork, headers etc then id bin the megasquirt set up and run it on standard Motronic which is more than good enough.
Grey oil is concerning though.

felt so proud, even tried it with a E30 325i and got put in my place..
the megasquirt was all wired in before i bought the car so i have no standard ecu and all the wiring is wired into a military spec bulkhead for quick release and a kit car fuse box. i think its more hassle to take it out but it is very tempremental.
i wanted to turbo it but looks like the funds now are going into rebuilding the engine
