Mainly E28's where you find low ratio diffs but they are rare and not cheap also buying a blind diff can be a risk.
An alternative could be to build the guts of an E36 LSD into an E30 casing, iirc E36 328i LSD ratio is 2.93 which would be perfect, with 225 45 16 tyres @ 6250rpm it will hit 39 in first 70 in second 108 in third 152 in forth and 187mph in fifth! 8O

Isn't there a way of converting an open diff to limited slip? And I don't mean welding, I mean a proper conversion....

thanks leeparkes, the e36 diffs are easier to come by. i might go for that option.

2.93 was standard ratio on the 325e.
