Hmm I need to crack the ECU open and have a look what chip it has inside I think...
I'm guessing some crap ebay "tuning" chip would cause rough running.? If that what's been put in..
m30 gurus needed.!

Zorst, I didn't do the engine conversion. I got it off a guy I know as a running project for cheap, he knew it didn't run great but had to sell it on to finance other things. He completely rebuilt the engine and fitted it but never got round to ironing out the fine details....
OK, just pulled the ECU. Upon first look, its obvious its never been opened before, metal tabs were factory sealed and no tool marks where you'd normally see after prying the metal tabs up.
Does anyone recognize the number on the chip? Is it from a m20b25?

A '173' ECU is a 325i one, so yes, chances are, it's probably a 325i chip.
I can supply either a standard or upgrade M30B35 chip that will work in that ECU.
