Missed your chance to brutally skim the head there marc

1mm off mine when i had it off, no compensation in cam timing, std chip, 220bhp and 238lb.ft of torques... Worth doing

I wish i had before and after figures though

Ahh that's where you are wrong Garath. It's not quite 1mm but it was the 2nd time this head had been skimmed. And now put back with standard thickness HG. Also has the b34 cam in favour or the b35 xxx

Ahaa... So the old one was standard spec and this has a lot of meat removed? Should be interesting to see what happens

I should really measure it top to bottom, find out what the difference is from standered then. Don't know if its because I haven't heard it for a while but it did sound more meaty than last time upon warm up. The last one had definitely been skimmed before as it had all the bills when I bought the donor. But it was done by a BMW specialist so I would imagine that a thicker HG was used.

Done a 50 mile find trip today and all seems well. Idle was a little lumpy at first but that's cleared itself. Just 1150 miles left for run in

Mine is e36 too. Think the 46 ones are a couple of mm longer. But not tried so not conclusive.
