I'm starting to collect parts for a m30 swap into my touring. I have 2 m30 manual gearboxes, two different styles though. I need to look into this as well. I am looking for a e34 535 manual, but they are few and far between. Can I use an auto as a donor and just use one of the gearboxes I currently have? What problems will I run into?

Yes you can use an auto as a donor and both those gearboxes will fit, obviously you will need a flywheel and clutch to go with it.

Isn't the little spigot bearing in the end of the crank different between manual and auto's?

I dont think there's a spigot in an auto, so yes you will need a spigot too :)
I paid just over £2 from GSF for my last one.
