Rev counter still not working. Im not sure why

I have done the swap on the wires, The heaters work fine. The speedo works fine, SI batteries both show 3v.

But the rev counter and eco-swing meter does not work. I checked all the connections, everything seems fine. So stumped at the moment.

Anyone got any ideas?

A little update.

I checked the batteries on the SI board they both read at 3v so no problems there.

The speedo was not working due to a loose connection. So thats sorted now. I love the way when changing from 1st - 2nd the speedo bounces when you loose traction. Also, good to see how fast Im going finally.

However the Rev counter is still not working, I have been searching on this forum and others it seems like a few people have had trouble with getting them working. But cannot find a solution anywhere. Got some details about running a wire to the c103 connection but nothing certain anywhere.
What the trick to getting the rev counter working?

Anyone?
Should this have worked when I swapped the wires over or does something else need to be done?

Early e30 models have a (3-wire) C104 connector that sends tacho (pin 1) and economy (pin 3) signals to the instrument cluster.

its not a early model. I have now got used to it. Might get a dash mounted counter, but they look a bit tacky or just leave it
