E28 535i rad with an E34 aircon fan,

E34 aircon fan fits near perfect under the slam panel and has got plenty balls to do the job

E28 535i rad is probaly the best you'll get for clearance unless you go custom 8)

nice frankenstein set up there rav lol i think mine has a standard E34 rad in but has no fan and the dizzy cap is way too close to the rad for my liking! lol

just checked GSF for a E28 rad and found this -
RADIATOR-MAN TRANS E28 518i >9/84 M10 Manual 89.75

will this fit? or will it be too small due to it being for a 1.8?

Too small, don't worry about the rad being a few mm's from the dizzy cap, mine has never touched together.

Ok after speaking to leeparkes and deciding that the M20 rad i have in there will prob be up to the job im just looking at rad fans

narrowed it down to these two:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/14-Slim-Line-Radi ... 41488825ef

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/14-SLIM-ELECTRIC- ... 414e4a9a88

does anyone have any experience with fans like these? im sure i've seen the brand "app" from somewhere before..

yep tried and tested not a cold spot at all! flushed it through a couple of times do get any kind of oil residue out of there and now im just awaiting the fan to come.

heads taking a bit longer due to them now also doing the exhaust valve guides aswell.

wouldve been perfect to have it back for the long weekend but not much i can do about it :(

ok just a quick question guys, i've fitted the fan to the radiator now and am collecting what i need to wire it all in
-now to the more electrical minded people this may be a stupid question but arent all relays the same as long as the rating is what i need?

also what rating should i get as i've seen this one and am wondering if it will do the job?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=37526

--if so should i get the 40amp one?

also what does this part on the expansion bottle do?
Image

--Also does anyone know if there is a fan switch which is the right size to screw into a M20 rad?

and heres the pic of the fan mounted on the rad :thumb:

thanx in advance peeps!!

Well i still have the M20 rad and 14" fan on there but i havent driven it any distance to see if its actually good enough..

Lee says he used an M20 rad with no probs before..i dont know though something tells me its a little too small for the size of the engine..

When i finally get insured on it im thinking of replacing it!

thats a bigger pic of what mine looks like :thumb:

I wouldn't go near these ebay cheap ones.
I fitted the 14" on when doing my m30 and after alot of head scratching and time trying to solve an overheating issue it was the fan that was at fault.Basically they produce very little air.

I fitted an m50 aircon fan to the m30 which works great and i have a 14" pacet on my m52 which works.
