m30,Car on the road today! still having electrical issues

after a year of me e30 being off the road,, finally today it passed the mot!!

but i still have problems where the m30 loom join's the m20 one,, as my car 1986 it has smaller round plug rather than the larger type on the facelifts,
Any way,, car runs very rich,, no battery light,, alternator does not charge once started until you give a hard rev,, once charging it will work constantly,, bad alt??
the m30 was from 92 735ia and my car 86 m20 325, both with check control but i cannot work out the colours between both plugs,, any idea's??.....
Last thing (power & running rich) if for example wires with regards to cold start, thermo switch, lambda sensor, etc not being present or connected up correctly will it restrict performance that much?? any help would be great as want to tax it next week!!!

Still have no bat light,,, i think maybe the alternator could be a bit dodgey but then it will start charging constant once the cars been revved up to 4000 rpm regardless of engine revs,,,

All taxed now,, been driving it tonight but have some issues with exhaust or possible g/box touching body somewhere as at idle it bangs a bit,,, also i would like to know how much clearence people have on there m30 conv's between the sump and top of steering rack,,
