does anybody run manual steering with an m30? Im toying with converting mine from power steering to manual when it gets converted but just wondered if it would make it uber-heavy with the m30 up front?

I had a 325i few a few weeks that had a manual rack, you just get used to it, parking was hard work though, once your moving though i prefered it.

I think with an M30 though your gonna get big arms quick :)

just toying with the idea as i said. i always preferred the feel of manual steering plus theres less to go wrong which is always a good thing in my eyes. My cars going to be used for a lot of drifting and the occasional track days so not sure really.
Do you know if theres any difference in the amount of turns lock to lock between power and manual racks?

I run manual, but I never liked power steering so I'm used to it. If your going to use it like I use mine then no worries about parking in tight spaces ect, go for it.

Reckon you should try a non pas car before you convert. And yes they are the same lock to lock.

I'm also running a manual rack, No real problems accept the engine mont needed some material taking off it to clear the steerig U/J.
Bit stiff when it comes to parking for the misses but she is 8 stone wet through. Stops her using it as well!!
