M30 Brake servo options
Moderator: martauto
Hi all,
Does anyone know of other servo options other than MK1 Golf GTi, to use on an M30 swap?
Im sure ive read somewhere that you can use clio or mk2 Golf ones? Not worried about the need for slight modding etc, as long as it doesnt end up being more hassle than its worth!
Cheers, Mark

It's the plastic winged clio servo or the golf Mk1. I can't help with the year for the clio.. sorry.
You don't have to use one unless your going back to P3, mine still has the E30 item in P2.5

Mines in Pos. 3, had to remove the OE servo to get the engine in!
I know what you mean now mate. A servo from a MK2 Clio with plastic wings (body panels)! I.E. 2000 year!charlE30 wrote:It's the plastic winged clio servo or the golf Mk1. I can't help with the year for the clio.. sorry.

What?
I have done tons of M30 swaps and never ever needed to replace the booster.
There is amble space on the stock setup.

can anyone confirm whether or not there is a clio servo with a double diafram which helps given its small size? ive read it somewhere but they didnt go into detail.

Eko thinks so, he has used both and rates the clio, I have a golf on mine atm and it will be getting changed to a clio as it doesnt work very well. Ive fitted these to E30's before with no other brake mods and its made them a lot better than standard

Can anybody answer why you need to replace the booster on a M30 swap?
I have never had a problem with m30 intakes and the stock booster.

with the standard set up you get around 10mm clearance between the two, i still had clearance when the weight of the M30 killed a GSF mount (passenger side)
There's a knack to get the engine into pos 3, remove the mounts completly, slide it back then fit the mounts last.

Or do as I did, and struggle like fook with the biggest crow bar you can find and get the ba57ard in there

If you Got "Haters",Then your doing something Right!
CR24v??? Where's it all gone?? LOL
So the MK2 clio servo gives more clearance/space, improves the effectiveness and the feel of the brakes (which in my opinion feel pretty crap as standard), and all for around £20 and half hour at the breakers.
Seems well worth it to me.
