Hi,So i am doing a manual to switchable auto conversion and have managed to swap the gearbox, pedals, gear lever , and fitted 90% of the loom.

How ever i an stuck on the last connector on the gearbox loom.
I have uploaded pics of the connector. It seems to connect to somthing under the drivers side of the dash as this is as far as the wire will reach.
I just cant find a connector to fit on to it..

Someone on facebook suggested that it needs to connect to the engine loom but again after searching i cant find a connector nor can i find extra wires on the engine loom to suggest that a auxilery connector would have been fiitted...

Im really stuck on this one and cant find nothing on the net about this either..

Anybody know how to solve this problem?
Do auto m20s have different engine looms with extra connection on them?

The connector has 10 pins in it but only 8 of these are conected to a wire.

Switchable autos use a different throttle position switch on the engine that also incorporates a throttle position potentiometer. Because of this, the engine loom is also different, and has a plug coming off the engine loom just before the ECU, which connects to your mystery plug.
Manual engine looms have a white plug and a black plug coming off the loom near the ECU, and your missing connector replaces the white plug and also carries the wires from the throttle pot.

Thankyou Brian, so to get this to work i have to replace my engine loom with one from a switchable auto car?

Also change the tps? Or can use the tps i already have? The engine in the car currently is from an auto car and has only one acceleration cable as appose to the two for kickdown, but im not certain that its the engine that was orriginaly mated to the gearbox as i bought them from a breaker...

Great so im yet again going to have to spend money for more parts :?

This build has been nothing but headache... i should of just stuck to a normal auto would have been so much easier... all this for a switch that i will probably hardly use...

yes the autos use a different connector for the TPS. Now this is fine when converting auto to manual like 99.9% of people do. But i doubt it will work properly the other way round if like Brian says the auto TPS has a potentiometer in it and its missing on the manual TPS. The box will be missing an important reading

The correct TPS is one with six pins and uses a round six pin plug instead of the 'normal' flat three pin plug. Three of the wires are the same as on the manual car, and the other three connect to the potentiometer and go straight to the missing plug by the ECU.
To get things to work properly, you will need the correct TPS and a six pin plug for it. but it should be possible to add the extra wiring as a separate loom, remove the white plug near the ECU, and to then splice those wires to your auto box loom. Most (but not quite all) wires are the same colour on the engine loom as they are on your 'spare' plug.
I should point out that I've no experience of doing the above, and have no idea what would happen if you just connected the wires in the white plug without bothering with the TPS.
Plenty of EH auto 325s have been converted to manual, so the second hand parts are out there, but probably still on the cars in question.

Thanks guys for all the help.. im feeling more confident now.. i will try and find the correct tps and see weather getting another loom is easier or maybe create a loom if i can find a diagram of some sort.

By the way will the car run without conecting the loom to the gearbox? Just to move around on the drive? Or this not a good idea? Iv been pushing it about for weeks now and havent tried to drive yet

Right, Got the right engine loom today and correct tps, so hopefully will get this running at some point this week if the weather holds up!
