Hi, Does anyone know if the 325i really needs an oil cooler ? Mines in a crappy state and the hoses look like they're weeping so i figured it would be better to delete it and fit a 320 oil filter mount instead if its not strictly necessary ?
Many Thanks

I ditched the oil cooler on mine and haven't had any adverse effects.

Yup, I removed the oil cooler on my B25 as well. No issues at all.

It's not really needed with modern oils.

I think I read somewhere, a while ago, that you have to really thrash a 325i engine to even get the oil hot enough to open the 'stat in the take off housing, and actually flow oil through the cooler.
It also holds an appreciable amount of oil that doesn't get changed at an oil change.
