Hey everyone
so i have a 1985 325e with a M20B27, now when i bought this car he said it struggled to idle first thought was idle air control valve i have installed a new one and hasnt made a difference, i am next going to change the fuel filter as it seems to be suffering from fuel starveation.
Before i do so is there anything else that is a huge factor for this problem.
So basically to explain what happens is the car will turn over and rev up the die but if i try for long enough with blips of gas at the right time i can get it running properly and have it stay running for a good amount of time then it stalls.
this car was sat fo 3 years so has 3 year old gas in it now i did NOT drain the old gas simply threw in a whole bunch fuel system cleaner, octane boost and new gas (on top of the old gas) to see if i could get it to run, so id just like peoples opinion on what i should do next. (and yes i do know 3 year old gas is a huge issue)
Many Thanks Dale[/b]

I would. did it work before it was layed up? if its only bad since it sat for a long while then id say it could be that. injectors might be stuck/sticking too. to be fair there are a lot of things it could be but you have to start with the basics and work from there. pump might be sticking too. id check fuel pressure, air leaks, plugs, rats in the air box.

Removed the AFM/filter assembly from a 318i that hadn't moved for two years, last weekend, to change the split big air hose, and found the inlet side of the filter and the big inlet pipe absolutely stuffed full of straw, leaves and other mouse nest building debris!ezagood wrote: rats in the air box.
