I got told to chop pin 20 out. I have a red and yellow wire on body side and I think kit might be a brown one on engine. What are they and why chop them out :)? Also with the new ecu and loom I have additional 2 plugs near the ecu to connect to somewhere when as the 1.8 only had ecu connection what are thoseeeeeee?

Thanks in advance

Also any advice on starting an unknown engine up. Not sure how long it sat around?

The red/yellow wire on the body loom is an unfused live for the ABS. You MUST remove the brown wire from pin 20 of the engine loom or you will be connecting the unfused live directly to an earth - which will result in much melted wiring and possibly worse!

I haven't dealt with an M20 for ages. Have you got any pics?

Hang on, I've got that the wrong way round. Are you sure the M20 engine loom has a brown wire at pin 20?

What car have you fitted the M20 to? Does it have ABS?

I'm pretty sure it's red and yellow the fuse box side. And that's a pic of it

I think older models used to have brown in pin 20 where later ones had abs feed:

Only remove the brown wire.

Does the car have ABS?

So from the engine the pin 20 wire has to be disconnected as it's brown. And not too sure I drove about 0,5 mile in this car I'll have a look tomorrow

So got the motor in got it cranking but I don't think the fuel is going up the fuel feed pipe. The ignition turns on, everything works. Need to work out why it won't start I undone the fuel feed pipe after cranking the motor and there was no petrol leaking out of it as if it didn't suck any up. Any ideas? Also the m20 has wiring section with few relay switches and a plug not sure what that plugs into as the m40 didn't have it.
