Hello ppl . I have a problem with my e30 ever since I have rebuilt the car . I have changed the slam panel and upgraded the m20 b20 to a m20 b25. Ever since the car has been complete the viscous fan is way too close to the radiator and causes the fan to get wedged up against the radiator. I have checked the waterpump and that seems fine . The fan is fitted correctly to the viscous also as I checked this on another e30 but didn't really pay too much attention on the engine mounts . . Now the engine mounts look straight and I'm 95% that the front panel was fitted correctly . Today I have stripped both wings and the whole front end removed thinking the front panel is too far back possibly or a dodgy panel as it was aftermarket . Looking at the engine mounts the mounts are straight but the cups for the mounts are not in the centre of the cross member its kinda comes off the edge slightly . I'm wondering are these mounts or cups sided? Is it possible to fit these incorrectly ? Will upload a picture shortly

The pic works fine, but ideally you need take one showing the rad and fan.

2 things

Check the rads mounted right
Check the engine mounts are not knackered

It was just to show position of the engine mount
Not the rad or fan

guys i have suffered this problem ever since i did the rebuild 4 years ago and i have been pulling my hair out. on saturday i visited my good friend of mine matt at mjr bmw and mini breaker in shrophire . he has just bought a e30 325i which i am helping rebuild . i have measured the front panel and the engine distance to the front panel and all the measurements are the same . i have borrowed the radiator and viscous fan from his car . i have compared the rad and all is the same . but the viscous coupling turned out to be the wrong one . this part was supplied by eurocarparts. even tho i double checked the part numbers with them after have this problem and the assured me all the parts i received was correct for my car . pain staking but got there in the end. very annoyed with euro car parts . now got to fit my car back up . this stopped me from attending the bmw show at gaydon . :( thanks again for the response .
