M20b25 swap into M40 - do i need to check the 101 connector?

Hi all,

Ive just finished putting an M20b25 into my 318i cabrio, I took my time and took it all from a donor car so I had everything I needed. It doesn't start.
There is power to the dash, there are many new parts but it doesnt even try to start. I had help from the e30zone wiki guide but can anyone suggest what to check? Is the fault with the 101 connector?

Does it even turn over on the starter? Check the engine-to-body earth strap as a first port of call.

The car is definitely earthed, its been checked. It wont turn over off the starter, no.

Have you bridged Pin 30 & 87 to see if the Fuel Pump is working?

Try bridging the appropriate pins in the diagnostic socket to get the starter to operate...
