Just a quick question about combining parts.

M20b25 engine, can I use my 240 box, 320i prop and a medium case diff? or would I need a different propshaft?

I think I'm basically asking if I need to change the prop shaft depending on which case diff I use?

Also If i change the current small case diff to a medium case, Anything else that would need changing?

Any help appreciated

Cheers

The prop needs to match the gearbox, so if you use the 320i box you'll need the 320i prop.
The diff can be swapped from small to medium without issue - you may just need to adjust the prop length slightly at the centre collar nut.

When you mention "collar nut" do you mean this part which allows to tighten the part of the shafts together? So you can adjust the lenght by extending it as much neccesary???

Cause i have been told that you can not do that. Hmmm

You cannot adjust the overall length of the prop., just the bit from the centre bearing to the diff., which is a fixed distance on all E30s, just varying slightly depending on diff. type, although reversing the centre bearing or fabricating a new mount for it can give further adjustment.
