hello everybody!
I was trying to find answer for my question but it looks like my searching methods failed again :-D

Can i use m54 pistons + rods for my stroker? Now its m52b28 crank + 130mm rods + stock b25 pistons. Will it fot without any machining or?

and last question will I feel the difference between m20 parts? I know m54 parts are lighter.

thanks to all for any answer

i have heard that you need to machine the M54 pistons. i don't see why you would go this route over the b25 piston and 130 mm rod.

get a lightweight flywheel if you want to lower the inertia of the system and the engine to rev quicker.

The M54 piston is near enough flat topped, you will be lowering comp ratio as you wont be able to get it close enough to the head/valve area

good point now i think of it i was referring to a thread i read on using the M54 bits with the M54B30 crank rather than M52b28 crank which would put the piston up the bore an extra 2.8mm and allow machining of a dome of sorts but it would be quite a significant amount effort and you would need valve reliefs probably.....

The M54 piston is also very thin, I doubt you would be able to machine it enough to get it close enough to the head, if you did it probably wouldnt last very long.
Best bet is to buy custom made pistons, they are not dear IMO considering the benefits

ive seen M52b28 pistons machined to work with 84mm crank and 135mm rod so this is another option

custom pistons for a b28 when stock b25 ones will do the job not sure thats where id be spending money. you are looking at anywhere from 700-1000 USD for a m20 piston with the proper dome shape suitable for the 885 head and only a few places do it unless you take a mould and send it off.

custom forged for the real big cranks is the only real option though

Yes I know what your saying, id definitely be going over bore if buying custom pistons, would be mad not to, maximise everything is the way forward :D

if you got money to burn there no downsides to customs as far as performance except the occasional startup rattle if the piston manufacturer asks for excessively larger clearances and sometimes it burns more oil.

but if you want power a nicely fettled cylinder head and camshaft, nice custom intake manifold will each make more power and torque than a new piston alone will ever give you. i would go custom only when no other options
