Based in north notts, looking at using the moates ostrich 2.0 piggyback ecu,rich318i wrote:What ECU you using?
Where you based?
Most places charge around £100 per hour

The m20 in my sport has been rebuilt as a 2.6 & has had quite a bit of work already done so a (piggyback ecu etc) remap is the next step.rich318i wrote:I believe with the M20 you cant really do that much to them but hope others can post up on it for you.
as in use upgraded cams and so on....
Running a M52 my self and they are great for remapping and so on...

Bit far for me to travel dude, just found that super chips have a place near skegness so might try them when the time comes,jimbom30cab wrote:I was recommended this place recently by Simon13 who is a guru on these things

I know, been thinking about youSpeedtouch wrote:I have a sale on chips if you want to find out.

the guy was already paid to do get more power out if it by mapping it, why would you chip it again?JF008 wrote:I went for a rolling road tuning today. Running a non vanos m50b25. It cost me £250 for two runs on the rollers and the mapping. It got from 194hp to 210hp, a bit less than I expected considering the manifolds an exhaust system that is on the car, and that I was sold that engine and ecu told that it was at 218hp ...
Is it worth chipping it? Is it too late and would need tuning again? I primarily needed the air/fuel ratio corrected but now want a little bit more power.

Get to chip wizard in Manchester Steve, you wont go wrong there, very honest bloke and can map M20's in his sleepsteve_k wrote:Bit far for me to travel dude, just found that super chips have a place near skegness so might try them when the time comes,jimbom30cab wrote:I was recommended this place recently by Simon13 who is a guru on these things

Also there's two rolling roads round here so might go have a talk with them swell & see what they say.

Cheers for that DanDanThe wrote:Get to chip wizard in Manchester Steve, you wont go wrong there, very honest bloke and can map M20's in his sleepsteve_k wrote:Bit far for me to travel dude, just found that super chips have a place near skegness so might try them when the time comes,jimbom30cab wrote:I was recommended this place recently by Simon13 who is a guru on these things

Cheers Dan, no worriesDanThe wrote:Best to get in contact yourself, could be anything, more time more cost usually, let him know your setup and he will give you an idea. Tell him I recommended him to you

As said above, your remap will have placed a different program on the ECU's EPROM chip. Removing it and replacing it with a different chip won't affect the existing tune, and you could always swap back to it if need be.JF008 wrote:I know, been thinking about youSpeedtouch wrote:I have a sale on chips if you want to find out.![]()
Honestly, how does it work, will it interfere with the tune I now have?

Max hp 210.7DanThe wrote:The map is on the 'chip' and in your case cost you £250, which company did you use? Its not unknown for 'tuners' to simply dump a generic chip into your ECU and give you a load of fanny about how theyve 'tweaked' this and that blah blah blah
But, realistically 210hp is V good for a standard M50B25 and I wouldnt expect to see much more at all. What was the torque figure?
