Hi there Dave, to add to your list: Diff, not strictly necassary but good to have the right ratio. Cooling system, you can make your current rad work with some imagination. A few extra brackets in the engine bay for relays and the air box, these will make it look factory rather than a cable tie effort, unless thats the look you are going for :D Six pot plug for the clocks, this will make the tach read correctly. Six pot suspension, as it will be up to carrying the extra weight up front.

It would also be agood time to swap to the later engine managment, and complete any servicing work while the enging is out. Things like the cam belt and changing the sump gasket, are just easier to do with the engine not in the bay.

An early high compression engine will have 25 6K above the engine number (stamped into a machined flat on the block to the right of the inlet side engine mount).

It should also have the 0 261 200 073 ECU, although some later ones (1988 year) had the later Motronic 1.3 0 261 200 173 ECU.
