Right then folk's.

finally got round to fitting my X-pipe & found out that i can no longer use the current mounting bracket (the one that bolt's on to the gearbox) so right now the exhaust is hanging lower than it should & that not good with the size of the speed humps round here as i don't fancy ripping it off

i've had a look on bmwfans.info & the only one i've found so far is part number's 4 & 5 for a e36 318is.

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E36/C ... ion_parts/

thing is will it fit?? i need a clamp thats about 60mm - 65mm diameter to go round the the middle of the X-pipe (right where the old bracket fit's round the old twin pipe system.

so would it fit?

the only reason the X-pipe is so close to the end of the down pipe's is because i don't fancy losing any bottem end/mid range grunt.

help me out if you can folk's as this is starting to do my head in.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

The mount at the back of the gearbox shouldn't really have any affect on the height of the exhaust. It's there more to reduce the strain on the manifold and down pipe joins.

i know what you mean brian but the gearbox mount is fine it's part number's 11 & 17 in this link

thats the part i cant use unless i can flatten/round it out so it wraps round the middle of the X-pipe to hold the it up & back into place & as high as it was before because i really don't fancy hitting a speed hump/kerb on the end of my drive & damaging the pipe's or worse ripping them off.

surely there must be something out there i can use???

Well looks like I've got it sorted now.

thanks to a big hammer & 10mins of my time I managed to get the old mounting bracket to fit so thankfully the exhaust should be safe (for now. Lol).
