M20 2.5 engine code ????

Hi all I wounder if anybody can help I have a m20 2.5 engine and need to find the engine code but I don't know where it is and what's the easiest way to find/read the code cheers.......

You will find the engine code on the exhaust side of the engine, to the left of the engine mount. There will be an area about 2" x 1" that is machined flat, this is where the engine code and serial number will be.
it will be either 256E or 256K
it will be either 256E or 256K

25 6e is the high comp early engine and 25 6k is the late low comp engine

Just my luck with all the info you guys have have me I found the area on the block where the engine code should be stamped but guess what no number lol I cleaned the area where the stamp should be but no sign of a number or code. Basically my car was a 1.8is and now is a 2.5 and I wanna declare it on my log book ect. Is there any other way to get round it cheers again Dave.

you can't be looking in the right place then it will be there

Cheers for that mate I'll give it ago tommorow now. As in the first picture I degreesed that area but nothing fingers crossed its as the second picture cheers.

you might need more than abit of degreaser you might need a wire brush or some wet and dry to clean it properly
