hi there. i hit my sump lastnight on my G plate 325I Sport mtech 2 2.5, as it happened i broke down outside a guys house that had a 1986 325es 2.7 on a D plate (LHD, US spec, full leather, bbs alloys etc) that wanted to sell for a bargain price which i wont say so i bought it today.
i understand the 325es with a 2.7 is less powerful than my 325I sport with a 2.5, but if i mixed my head on to that block can i gain more power? or if it will not gain me any power can i just take the sump from the 2.7. any ideas or suggestions are massively appreciated. thanks luke
What is best for me to do. have a 325es and a 325I sport

The 2.7 bottom end with a 2.5 head will give more power, there's a thread somewhere on how to and different variations to get to 2.7.

if you use an 885 head then you would be best served using bowled 2.5 pistons, if you use a 731 head then stick with the eta pistons.
really a 2.7 has too short a stroke for the 2.5 pistons to be fitted and too high a compression if the 885 head is used with eta pistons.
in fact i think they may clash but its late and my brain stopped working hours ago.
