you dont need to deck the block if you did that you would make the compression higher just ike skimming the head for a you seem to have the parts for a 2.7 the eta cranks 320i rods 2.5 pistons and a 2.5 head thats it mate :)

ant has thrown the towl in too

just take a bog stock 2.5 and boost it it will take a bar of boost and dont bother fanny around with a 2.7 if you aint got the cash as it gets very expensive ?
If you dont eck the block o 2.7 build you end up with too low compression ideally ? it need sto skimmed a little but not going to give that info away for sh**te as it took a long time to work out.
As to the topic geeza you know kevin ? yes i have replied to your PM and i know all of the cars you mention and yes i had hand in doing some of the work with Ant, yes he has jacked it in for now...
Exciting times ahead i Hope....

that sounds good to me hopefully getting an engine this weekend, will prob end up getting the parofin out and measuring the combustion chamber cc to do the math, any ideas on things like plugs to use doner cars to get coil packs off? ignition leads, and where to get hold of a strong head gasket and bolts/ studs??

yep yep and yep
you need arp stud or bolts your choice
STD head gasket (weak point so it goes tits up it can be replaced easily) BMW only
engine will need a refresh before boosting new oil pump, shells etc.
Its all down to the builder IMHO.....
Info is not free i am afraid...

All info gathered was at my expense lol na i will give most info but some stuff you have to find out for yourself i am afraid...
I have guided Ross up ther on his build and it was going great unit till he has an engine issue..
But 2.7 turbo is hassle trust me as i am unsure if a eta crank could take the beating,
the thing is if turboing was easy and cheap everybody would be doing it....
I have learnt alot myself down the 6 years i have been doing my project. the do's and don't what works& what don't
Just do the easy route, and get a good 2.5 give it a good freshen up and turbo that but it won't come cheap and that comes from alot of hard hours grafting with a good pal of mine in sun rain snow with alot of heartache along the way.
I have now come to an end and mine will be going up for sale in the new year, as I hope some one can enjoy it as much as i have... pastures new and all that.. :D
