i think its a sensor on the block on the exhaust side and the other end of the cable plugs in next to where the crank sensor plugs in. what does it do and does it affect anything? wires on mine are a bit dodgey looking. cheerz Mark

This is the cylinder identification sensor, which tells the ECU which of the pair of pistons that are at TDC at the same time has just finished its exhaust stroke, and which has just finished its compression stroke. A kind of primitive cam position sensor.
The engine will run happily without this input, but a little better with it.

PS: You say it's on the block? It should be sitting around #6 spark plug lead.

aye sorry getting mixed up with another sensor.whats the sensor on the block down near the sump on the exhaust side.is it just an oil level indicator?

Oil level sender is on top of the sump and not on exhaust side.
