pipercross panel filters

hi all, i have a k&n cone style filter on my e30 2.7 atm and im going back to the standard e30 airbox.. my question is, are the pipercross/k&n panel filters any good? or is it the same low down power loss as like the cone stlye filters? or should i just use a standard bmw panel filter?
