A mate just purchased a 88 325 I .the car has been stood up for about 4 years..the car ran fine on test drive and when he took it for a short blast when he got it home. After hitting a speed bump it ran rough ,but as it was low on fuel he didn't think anything of it. After getting home he added fuel and tried to restart it but now it won't restart. When turning on ignition the fuel pump doesn't prime. .we removed pump and tested it with a battery and it runs fine.we checked multiplug under inlet manifold and all is ok.we replaced fuel pump relay and checked fuse again all ok.
If you unplug crank sensor then just touch plug together the pump does one pulse then stops.we replaced crank sensor but still the same .
We have checked wiring as best as possible .anybody any ideas?
Non starting

the fuel pump should only run when cranking and running. you can bypass the relay . check on wikki or ask which numbers are. also if its been stood around ging over a bump may have disturbed crap in the tank,. where are you ? could help if close enough
if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?

The cars in mid wales . The fuel pump should run for a couple of seconds when the ignition is turned on to prime the system then switch off .as you say when cranking the pump should start to run . We swapped the relay and that made no difference. I need to check feed to relay ,got a idea the ecu controls the feed .any more ideas ?

Check for sparks at the plugs.

ICV sorting itself out often gets confused for the fuel pump priming.
