How do all,
I've copied everyone elses idea and gone for a BLOS carb, for anyone new to LPG like i was not too long ago (i'm still at the learning stage), blos is a replacement for the mixer that goes in between your airbox and the air flow meter. the advantage is that it is a bigger surface area when revving on so lets more air through giving better performance, whilst at low rpm has an adjustable slide in it to give a smaller airflow more suitable for idle etc. whereas the normal mixer is a fixed size.

I've set mine to basically the halfway mark as the leaflet that comes with it suggests but it doesn't feel right and am wondering how to go about tuning it correctly. i have a basic exhaust gas analyzer which measures %vol Co but nothing to measure Hc on. is it possible to set it up with this? what sort of reading should i be aiming for also as it is strained at high revs at the moment?

I'm aware that a wide band lambda can be used with a gauge but as thats going to cost me about £100? (i think), i'm looking for any other options first.
any help appreciated
cheers
Kev

You've set the trap door/flap half open? That feature is an emergency overide and should be left closed during normal operation? Does the flap move freely up and down?

On the throttle body side of the BLOS, is the small hole through the casting broken through, I had to poke mine through with a pen, this is where the gas is fed in at idle?

I believe you can use the CO2 sensor but lambda's measure oxygen so it's not the same.

Do you have a closed loop system with a stepper motor?

hi mister,
cheers for the reply, yes i've undone the trap door which is marked with red paint iirc. Also the flap slides up and down ok lthough perhaps slightly notchy if i'm being anal but i think this is mainly because it needs to bed in slightly i'll check if it's still the same tomorrow now it's been used for a few miles; i'll also check the little hole which controls the idle too.
She does idle nicer now and one thing i noticed on the way to work yesterday is that when i ran on petrol for a few miles it's much faster than it's ever been by quite a margin, i think my mixer and catflap must have been awful and strangled it massively so i'm hoping that my car will emulate that power on lpg once i can get it setup.
i have an open loop system by the way so no stepper motor in my system, i think i'm going to try tomorrow to set my lpg co levels to the same as my petrol ones (assuming they are correct too) and hope that improves matters. i'll go and have a look at that website now and see if i can find anything else.
cheers for your help

When you say not feeling right, this is most likely a lean situation IMHO, and is likely to be best adjusted on the vapouriser as you are open loop.

You're correct in thinking that the mixer and catflap strangle, my mixer costs 10bhp, and I gained 6bhp removing my catflap with mixer still in place.

Personally, with open loop, I'd get someone who is an LPG professional to set it up for the first time, in which case the £100 wide band is probably a better long term solution. Does your car have a lambda at all?

This thread covers BLOS install:

Hi Alex, i've just read through that thread some good info in there and i've also been doing some more research into lambda etc.
i do have a standard lambda sensor on the car with the cat removed, it seems that standard is a 0-1volt sensor and 0.45v is ideal. i'm going to try and use a voltmeter to pickup the figure with my car on idle on petrol and lpg and then at 3500 also. will this work do you think or will it change so fast that i won't see anything?
i had the car setup properly originally (4 months ago when it had the original mixer on it with the basic thumbscrew adjuster. i was hoping this would be close enough for me to add the blos and only make minor adjustments to get it pretty good.
As for the feeling it doesn't rev but seems okish at lower revs does this sound like lean?
cheers again
Kev
