Ok guys heres my question, i jus got rid of the gay cone filter and opted for the standard o.e.m airfilter (on my m20b25) it has the standard paper element airfilter in it i was contemplating on buying a replacement k and n panel style filter, what you guys reckon????

The K&N filters MUST be properly cleaned and oiled to serve properly. Standard filters are very good and do the job required of them perfectly well. Unless you're looking to squeeze every last bit of horsepower out of your modded car and want to look at the intake side of things then usually it's probably best to stick with the standard filter.
Standard BMW filter imho.ali50ferrari wrote:Ok guys heres my question, i jus got rid of the gay cone filter and opted for the standard o.e.m airfilter (on my m20b25) it has the standard paper element airfilter in it i was contemplating on buying a replacement k and n panel style filter, what you guys reckon????
K&N panel filter > standard paper filter
cone filter with shield and/or cold air feed > K&N panel filter
someone on E30tech did a comparison on the dyno of all 3 setups.

a good custom intake would beat them all tho..The red line is the K&N Panel and stock airbox (air trumpet/silencer and all). The green line is the stock paper filter. The blue line is the open, unshielded K&N cone filter.
