Has anyone actually contacted BMW GB about this? Not sure if they'd take kindly to a bunch of Zone scratters pitching up unannounced................

I think that responsibilty and the arrangement of the date lies with Ian (cabrio) as he is the car clubs E30 register chairman.Andyboy wrote:Has anyone actually contacted BMW GB about this? Not sure if they'd take kindly to a bunch of Zone scratters pitching up unannounced................![]()

Just spoken to Iain, I'll be calling BMW in the morning.
Intention - if they play ball -
a) Up to 40 cars, to use their carpark for a couple of hours for photos.
b) Press coverage with Total BMW - again if Total will take it.
c) Head on to a nearby pub... any suggestions for the pub much appreciated.
So... Any more for the list?

I am currently in contact with BMW (GB), and at the moment they are "considering our request".
Will be either 22/23 or 29/30 March. I've left dates and choice of Saturday or Sunday up to BMW to give maximum chance of acceptance. they may not like Saturday as it could interrupt business, but not sure if we'd be able to get in on a Sunday.
I will keep everyone updated as soon as I can. Please bear with me.
Cheers

Hmmm. I thought this was a proper organised event. Not "just" a meet that happened to be at Bracknell. You might be advised to get BMW (and non BMW) magazines involved. As well as a few traders.

Already planned mate. Once I have agreement and a date from Bracknell, I will contact Total BMW and see if they're interested in joining us.
May try BMW Car too, but not sure it's in with their way of thinking. They're more into the newer stuff, and PBMW will want a modified car turnout.
As far as traders, don't think BMW would be too impressed with people setting up stalls in their car park...

Being discussed - depends on numbers as if it's 4 men and a dog, it's not going to fill too many pages.Gortour wrote: I will contact Total BMW and see if they're interested in joining us.

Up to almost 30 cars at the moment Andy, and over a month to go. As long as they all show - which is the big issue - should be worthwhile.
I'll be contacting Paul Wager direct once I've heard back from Bracknell - which will hopefully be tomorrow - unless you'd rather deal with that yourself mate? Don't want to be seen to be treading on your toes as it were, but I have no problem either way.

Oh great... Had this reply from BMW today...
Dear Gordon
I would like to thank you for your interest in holding your event at our head office.
Unfortuantley, in this instance, we feel that we cannot accommodate your event.
I wish you luck in finding another site.
Kind regards
Michelle Cox
Facilities Co-ordinator
So... a supposedly customer friendly company, that can't even spell "unfortunately"...
back to the drawing board...

Sorry guys and girls. Please watch this space for further details.
Cheers

Thats f*cking typical. They held a meet for e28 M5's there last year did they not?
The bloody e30 saved BMW's arse in the 80's. Just another case of them fogetting their roots I believe. Wonder if they'd have dissed an official request from the BMWCC?

No they haven't - they have one later this year I believe...
Sent em another email asking why. Maybe we can reschedule and do it at a time convenient to them.
I did ask in my original request for one of the last two weeks in March, maybe they're already doing something themselves to commemorate the birth of our beloved babies.
Will keep you all posted.

True mate. I have the BMWCC magazine with pics too from the E28 M5 meet at BMW Bracknell. Dead shame this, was round the corner from me.B7 wrote:Thats f*cking typical. They held a meet for e28 M5's there last year did they not?

Not impressed! Was looking forward to this one! What i dont understand is why the would do the same for BMWcc but not us? Maybe Neil (Cabrio) Should contact them as he is the car clubs E30 register chairman.

My thoughts exactly, will PM Cabrio this eve,bss325i wrote:Not impressed! Was looking forward to this one! What i dont understand is why the would do the same for BMWcc but not us? Maybe Neil (Cabrio) Should contact them as he is the car clubs E30 register chairman.
Sent them this this morning, not had a reply yet. Maybe they can't be bothered to even reply to us now...?
Thankyou very much for taking the time to reply regarding our request.
I must admit to feeling a bit disappointed however. I believe acceptance was given for the E28 M5 owners recently, and the BMW Car Club have a meet later this year.
With all due respect, have we approached this the wrong way? Are we bringing too many cars, is the timing inappropriate, have we given insuffient notice?
If there is a way we could possibly get permission from yourselves for this meet on a smaller scale or at a different time, we would be very grateful. As mentioned previously, we would be getting Total BMW and maybe BMW Car involved - again with your consent, to give yourselves advertising as well as publicising our own club.
Please could you advise where we have gone wrong?
Many thanks again
Still awaiting a reply... maybe tomorrow?

1.) The BMW Car Club and 10-20 E28 M5's, mostly driven by blokes in their 30's, 40's and 50's. BMW know it's not going to be drama.
2.) E30 Zone, 30 or 40 cars with noisy exhausts, thumping tunes, young guys making noise and generally being a pain in the arse. Imagine all the c0ck action on the roundabouts around Ellesfield Avenue. Security guards ring the Pigs etc, all aggro BMW GB do not need.
Doesn't surprise me in the least TBH and it's not worth pursuing or getting arsey. With no cafe nearby it's a shit location anyway. Let's just invade the Ace instead.
