Errr, sorry, but if "all zoners are welcome" then why are there only 20 spaces?red05 wrote:The e30zone at the BMW show Gaydon 15th Aug.

We have 20 spaces (provisionally) and hope to fill these this year. ALL zoners are welcome, whatever car you have. We just ask the cars are all clean and road legal!
I think you will find this is the reason you are struggling to get 20 cars, because 'really' zoners are not welcome.....
I know I wont be back until the zone is welcome as a group.
Sadly that does seem to be the case.
A zoner recently contacted the BMWCC E30 representative and enquired about Gaydon. He astonishingly was told to contact someone else (was given a name) as the representative had historically left the zone with some acrimony.
Now is that welcoming ? We gladly allow BMWCC advertising of any meet on the zone in order to promote E30s.
Also all BMWCC members are most welcome at any zone meet and the majority are free of charge.
We will continue to promote BMWCC where and when we can but it does not seem to be two way street.

Did you not read the posts above yours? The zone as a group IS NOT WELCOME. There wont be a 'club stand' of any kind, this lot above making a list might take a few unofficial zone flags and stickers but they will be doing a poor job of representing the zoneoctanejunkie wrote:I'm in.

Why is everyone being so negative about the show!!! What is the problem!!! Everyone seems to want to slate it but no one wants to say what the problem is!! And on the other note at least we are bothering to represent the zone at all!!

With respect - you are absolutely out of order
Just because of your (valid - and ones with which I completely agree ) feelings towards the BMWCC there is no need to harshly put down a couple of people who are trying to organise a Zone presence at a show
IMO you owe them an apology
As I get older I realize that you can't please everyone - pissing everybody off is however a piece of cake

And no we won't be taking unofficial flags or stickers with us. Why Should we bother spending our own money to get stuff made and representing the zone and the love of the e30's when there are idiots like yourself that are just rude and making comments like we will be doing a poor job....... At the end of the day JOG ON!!!!! Maybe you should take a long hard look at some zoners attitudes and negativity before making remarks about other clubs!!!! All I know is the people that are going will have a good time and the people that arn't because of whatever issues they have with bmwcc oh well nevermind!!!DanThe wrote:Did you not read the posts above yours? Perhaps you might offer some suggestions on how they (we) might, do a "good" job of representing the zone then?
As the E30 Zone is an unofficial internet based club/forum, then i suppose you can't really expect BMWcc to really recognise them in that respect, and in my experience prestige car dealers and official clubs never seem to have much time for smaller contingents. Its the same story for every model specific community i've ever been affiliated with.
What i was getting at, is whether we actually have some space somewhere to display our cars safely for visitors to see, and not all just stood around in the general car park (otherwise i might just as well drive my Focus up there). By the fact that it has been said we have "20 spaces", would lead me to believe that we have some sort of patch on which to create a club presence. I couldn't give a flying fuck whether BMWcc oficially recognise us or not. I'm certainly not going up there for their benefit
well I have been a member of the BMWcc for a few years and I have had no anti zone vibes...saves me 15% on my parts prices and I get a mag every month....I am going to the show this year after missing last years (bored with it) but I will have my zone sticker on the car in the e30 section...I believe that the only reason we cant have a display section for the zone is lack of space.....see you there

I meant the zone wouldnt be represented well because of low numbers, not ability. 20 E30's is like a drop in the ocean compared to what could be on display if the cc were interested.
If they wanted us there then why doesnt anybody from the cc approach the zone admin about it?
It feels like a couple of zoners have crawled up to the almighty CC officials, "can we come to your show please"
The response = yes but only 20 of your finest.....
You cant tell me there isnt space for 100+ E30's at Gaydon.
I dont know the full ins and outs of what happend with the cc but I do know it was down to pettiness/snobbery over some of the zoners cars that were on display a few years ago.

it all went tits when Ron Parish left the E30 register, Iain Hamilton followed suit and that nice chap Neil (AutoMachelmet) Mcdonald took to the helm.
Skinny Jeff Hayward said E30 owners were 2p losers. Thats the CC chairman
I'll be on the Alpina register stand in me pina touring hopefully!

Yes we have........ It's the same as it was last year........ We have a provision for 20 cars but if more than 20 zoners want to come then we can have as many as we want. That is the whole idea of putting your name down so we can sort it and get a bigger stand sorted. If anyone else wants to come then get ya names down no later than Monday so red05 can book and order tickets x x

every year its the same old drivel abut gaydon
here are some facts
1, its a BMW car club show
2, CC members get priority to park with in the various registers, e30 register the relevant one to this forum
3, there are forum displays which are open to non CC members
there have always been a few issues regarding this show and this forum, i don't see much on the other forums in terms of the bitching i see here
here is how its is. and this will explain where ther issues arrise, such as 2p loosers and the e30 register organiser being a bit funny with this forum
a few year back if you were not a CC member getting your car on display, namely the e30 register was near enough impossible. some people here complained, but there is no cause for complaint because it is simply the way its organised. if you were a paying member and you couldn't get your car on display yet non members were there you'd be a touch fucked of, right ?
so simply, pay your £40 a year membership and you'll have the option to display your car. £40 a year is not a lot is it ? you have your other benefits as well
any how, mr ron parish who used to run the CC e30 register was also a member here, he one year ( 4 IIRC) started dishing out e30 register display passes out via pm. lots of zoners turned up and some of the cars were fucking sheds and it was a disgrace
i was member, i was there and i thought it was bang out of order.
no one vetted the cars, and as elitist as that sounds you need to. its the main show of the year and only the best cars should be on display. if if they are not amazing , put some effort into it and wash your car. some people couldn't even be bothered to do that
so ever since then the CC will vet and monitor what goes on. the last few years any cars that come under the umbrella of a display i'm organising i will want to see it before i say yes to a display pass
in recent years, the CC now offers forum displays to forums, like the zone and the coupe forum. its an olive branch and i gets a mix of cars on display. and you don't have to be a member. how ever space is limited, you can not expect to list 100 cars and expect the club to accommodate all of them. at gaydon space is limited but at least some space is available to non cc members. this forum does have some amazing cars which should be on display, like B7's OEM cab, and DanThe's car.
its the responsibility of the forum to have the best from the forum on display. if 20 sheds turn up its not going to be great representation of this forum , is it ? that's what happened a few years back hence why some ranks with in the CC slated the zone.
on the e36 coupe forum, they( the mods organising the forum display) make it quite clear that they want nice cars. the owners know if their car is of a good enough standard to be in that group of 20 that represent the forum. i have not seen that here ?! going back to what happened a few years back, some peoples cars were not even washed, some had primered arches and needed body repairs. some people were trading out of their cars boot FFS.
ok, some people are delusional and don't know that their cars is not quite up to standard, but you cant help that some times
finally, if any one rings the CC and speaks to Neil McDonald who no runs the e30 register and gets a frosty reception when they ask for a display pass and you're not a member, what exactly do you expect ?
than man was banned from this forum for no reason lol
the zone has some very nice cars, which should be on display so lets hope they turn up. be grateful that there is space for you guys

this is what the coupe forum asks for from its members going on the forum display
"I would like to say, although It is not expected that all the cars on the stand will be 100% mint a certain standard is expected. A level of self moderation on wether you think your car is of a level to represent the forum is required. I am not going to judge/make the decision for you! The enthusiasm we all have for our cars should make for a good atmosphere on the stand, the odd touch up etc, wont make much of a difference, however rusty arches/missing trim/dents will!"
if any one else has any questions they like to ask about Gaydon od the CC club feel free to ask me.
i will be there on the day, i will be marshaling and assisting and happy to help the zone any way i can

I'm interested in coming, but a bit worried my car isn't up to the standard that will be expected.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak- ... 0252_n.jpg - my car.
Rust on the bottom of the front wings, where the mudflaps were. rest of the car looks ok
Like I say, very interested in coming.

here are some facts
1, its a BMW car club show
2, CC members get priority to park with in the various registers, e30 register the relevant one to this forum
3, there are forum displays which are open to non CC members
there have always been a few issues regarding this show and this forum, i don't see much on the other forums in terms of the bitching i see here
here is how its is. and this will explain where ther issues arrise, such as 2p loosers and the e30 register organiser being a bit funny with this forum
a few year back if you were not a CC member getting your car on display, namely the e30 register was near enough impossible. some people here complained, but there is no cause for complaint because it is simply the way its organised. if you were a paying member and you couldn't get your car on display yet non members were there you'd be a touch ****** of, right ?
so simply, pay your £40 a year membership and you'll have the option to display your car. £40 a year is not a lot is it ? you have your other benefits as well
any how, mr ron parish who used to run the CC e30 register was also a member here, he one year ( 4 IIRC) started dishing out e30 register display passes out via pm. lots of zoners turned up and some of the cars were ******* sheds and it was a disgrace
i was member, i was there and i thought it was bang out of order.
no one vetted the cars, and as elitist as that sounds you need to. its the main show of the year and only the best cars should be on display. if if they are not amazing , put some effort into it and wash your car. some people couldn't even be bothered to do that
so ever since then the CC will vet and monitor what goes on. the last few years any cars that come under the umbrella of a display i'm organising i will want to see it before i say yes to a display pass
in recent years, the CC now offers forum displays to forums, like the zone and the coupe forum. its an olive branch and i gets a mix of cars on display. and you don't have to be a member. how ever space is limited, you can not expect to list 100 cars and expect the club to accommodate all of them. at gaydon space is limited but at least some space is available to non cc members. this forum does have some amazing cars which should be on display, like B7's OEM cab, and DanThe's car.
its the responsibility of the forum to have the best from the forum on display. if 20 sheds turn up its not going to be great representation of this forum , is it ? that's what happened a few years back hence why some ranks with in the CC slated the zone.
on the e36 coupe forum, they( the mods organising the forum display) make it quite clear that they want nice cars. the owners know if their car is of a good enough standard to be in that group of 20 that represent the forum. i have not seen that here ?! going back to what happened a few years back, some peoples cars were not even washed, some had primered arches and needed body repairs. some people were trading out of their cars boot FFS.
ok, some people are delusional and don't know that their cars is not quite up to standard, but you cant help that some times
finally, if any one rings the CC and speaks to Neil McDonald who no runs the e30 register and gets a frosty reception when they ask for a display pass and you're not a member, what exactly do you expect ?
than man was banned from this forum for no reason .
the zone has some very nice cars, which should be on display so lets hope they turn up. be grateful that there is space for you guys
Dan, get your car to gaydon
Pretty good precis of the facts.
Only thing you got wrong is that Neil withdrew from the Zone as he refused to pay trader fees whilst wanting to advertise and sell goods from his company.
I today spent good time with BMWCC members and re-iterate that the CC are more than welcome (with Modfathers blessing) to advertise their meets and shows, all BMWCC members are welcome at any Zone meets as well.
Interestingly enough, today with senior members of BMWCC they are going to interact more with us next year at the German Show.
At the end of the day it should and in the Zone's stance will be, about E30s and not politics !
Welcome BMWCC.
