Right then...curry's on the go at the moment, I will light the fires at about midday so the meat should be ready for about 2 ish. I will also make (well she will anyway
) some cream potato-bake, and some rice and I will have a fair quantity of bread rolls too. For those who haven't been before, just in case it does rain, the bbq will continue anyway (in south african tradition) and there is a cabin to provide shelter as well. I will try to plan the visit to the car barns once everyone is here.
See ya soon!
There is a car wash, and a shop and anything that you should need on site as well.

I have limited internet access with my crap 3 dongle so cannot upload pictures but I hasten to say it was a brilliant afternoon superbly hosted by Rob and his good lady. They pulled out all the stops and did a variety of wonderful food. South African curry, barbeque of all good sorts, a fantastic potato dish, salads, olives etc. Coffee and tea laid on in very comfortable surroundings. After lunch we then went to the 'barns' and saw an amazing collection of extremely rare and collectible cars. My favourite was a '57 T-bird, beautiful !
The sad part of the day was only nine cars turned up from the original 27 and Rob had catered for 20, shame on you guys, the list shows who you are. As a result of our collective embarassment, we worked out what Robs cost were and the 10 zoners made sure he was reimbursed. Its a real shame that you guys let the zone down and cost your fellow zoners money. Genuine reasons are always accepted but 18 no showers was in my opinion a bad effort. If you are going to put your name down then at least make the effort and go.
Finally, ROB

Aw, sorry to hear this Rob, I know how much effort you put into these meets, and those who didn't turn up not only let the side down, but missed out on a FABULOUS day out.
This is always a good meet, and the barns full of classic cars should never be missed.
Hope you have the heart to do this meet again Rob, I will be there next time without fail.

I stated that we couldn't make it on Thursday too. I would never just "not turn up".HartgeH27 wrote:Fair play, a lot of others not a dicky bird from !spook wrote:I did state on Thursday i could not make it
Come on peeps, it takes a lot to organise these meets, be fair and notify if you have to drop out.
For me it was really nice to have a local meet. What I find really annoying is that when I put my name down to go to most meets it involes over 100 to 200miles worth of driving but i always make sure I turn up when I put my name down.
Worse still a fellow zoner , someone we would call a friend outlaid a fair bit of time and money to do this for his fellow "friends" on the zone. But never the less the people that turned up were more than happy to make up for the short fall of others not turning up and was a great afternoon.
Also I think an award for the best Zone sign has to go out to Rob for the old 7 seris sprayed with "E30Zone <--------"

Hey guys.
Cheers for those who turned up, I'm glad you had a good time. I also really appreciate that the lot of you chipped in to cover the costs. Sure, I was as dissapointed as you guys about the actual turn out, but we all know that's the way of meets.
I don't mind hosting these things, as long as I know in advance the number of guys attending. If the core group that usually attends wish to continue that's more than fine with me. It's just a pain in the ass catering for 30 people when only a third turn up. What I might do in the future is cater for a smaller group but have provision to expand that capability on short notice.
I was tempted to make this one the last, but I know that the guys enjoy the barns and the general surroundings. Maybe we can think of ways to add to the event and perhaps include members from allied forums such as the VW/E36/E46/5forum. There's enougfh space to accomodate a lot more people and it would be sad to just let another venue go to waste.
Anyway.....cheers again guys,

did any of these cancel beforehand or just straight no shows?
i'm glad the rest enjoyed it,at least your belly's were full and scrumps no doubt

+ a yard full of scrap turds
I fear diddler is going to add to his antics by getting that Alpina. At least he'll have a set of caps
I do enjoy this location , would be nice to have a look at the restoration place again if it can be organised too.
I felt sorry for Adi as gooner was feeding poor Scrumpy a heap of that tastey curry and I bet she was farting like a tropper all the way home
Also cheer Adi for sorting out my front door cads
