To be honest Steve, I'm more interested in the photographic qualities than the distance...Steve-E30 wrote:There must be somewhere localish to the burger place surely ???
And if we want the press there, Spook, we're gonna have to decide ASAFP mate...

One of the Forts on Portsdown hill is Fort Nelson owned by the Royal Armouries this is well worth a visit, I believe they allow car clubs to take their vehicles in to the fort. and its 5 mins from the burger van.

We need to keep it simple on the day methinks, meet, arrange, get to Porchester and pay our respects.davidt wrote:One of the Forts on Portsdown hill is Fort Nelson owned by the Royal Armouries this is well worth a visit, I believe they allow car clubs to take their vehicles in to the fort. and its 5 mins from the burger van.

David a brilliant idea and one perhaps you could follow up ?
Would be a great venue for a next Portsmouth meet, mind you dont think Spook would like the culture, Gordon would be looking for tunnels to play in (strange types those Dorset creatures).

so meet gor on the way then head to burger bar for 2pm then of to ? will finalise with every body later . i could go to the castle and see what the car parks like on the day or just take some police no parking cones down and seal of the car park and sod them all
Perhaps enlist Hongkongfuey to assist you ?
So 2pm at Micks Monster Burgers - depart at 2.45 ?
Porchester Castle at 3.15 approximately ?
Whats the arrangements for the Castle and a plan B ?
Line up for a shoot with Sheila (Malcs wife for a good shot which she can cherish).
Disperse and either depart or meet back at the Churchillian Pub (across the road from Micks Monster Burgers) for a debrief ?
Your call Gaszman !

no arrangements at castle blown out im sorry to say they wont let us ( without paying lots ) drive through and park or even park on the grass out side so its the car park only some pompy guys are searching for somewhere close but i will peel of and look at the car park before going to the burger van ok guys
Lisa and Paul have just asked if there was anywhere localish that Malc particularly liked.
Maybe you could ask Sheila for us Iain. Would be nice to pay respects somewhere Malc loved. I'd like to think it would be more special to Sheila too.
Good call Lisa and Paul...

I'm thinking on it... You have Titchfield Abbey nr Fareham which although smaller is better looking than Porchy Castle and I've never encountered guardians there and there would be plenty of space for 30 cars if we positioned them. You could cruise from the Viewpoint (burger heaven) down the back of the hill on the Wickham road (lovely cruising road) until Wickham and get to Titchfield Abbey that way (down the A32 to Fareham and head for Titchfield)To be honest Steve, I'm more interested in the photographic qualities than the distance...
I'm thinking bout best photo shoot oportunity
I'll see what other ideas I can come up with.........

drive down the lane (not v.far)
and it's on your left opposite a pub so watch out for the opening coz u could miss it

All the more reason to gatecrash the place then Spook.spook wrote:portchester castle gordon
Thought it was just picked as a nice place for photos etc... Didn't realise it was picked as a "Malc's favourite place"...
If that's where Malc loved, that's where we're going. Whether they like it or not. Sure we can get a few photos taken and leg it before the cops arrive.
