Have to add my admiration for the E21. Beautiful cars the E21's and haven't seen one in that condition for a LONG time. A credit to you Mark. Hope it hasn't taken too long to clean the
off it.
A good evening, good company some wonderful noises in the tunnel - not from my turd sadly - and my first 'breakdown' in the Touring.
Got halfway through the tunnel, 3rd run, heading towards the Squirrel, and my immobiliser decided to cut in and kill the engine. Repeated pressing of the switch did nothing, until eventually it kicked in, the engine started again and all was well.
A bit weird, not used to immobilisers cutting in while driving, they're supposed to stop you starting it, not stop it....

It was nice to get out and see a few other E30s on the road! Tunnel was very impressive, first major NEW stretch of UK road Ive driven on for many years. Pity those lights at Hindhead split the pack up, almost as annoying as the 10mph speed limit on the A3 from The Squirrel to Guildford, which a Micra, a dozen or so cars up from was obeying.

Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!
Couldn't believe the 10mph... Had one on the way back to Portsmouth too...
Don't know what he was driving, but the bloke at the front of the queue was sticking to it...

Was nice to see the reactions of the guys that went past in the late model M3 & M6. They certainly seemed approve. Enjoyed getting aural in the tunnel too!

Perhaps they were testing a new speed limit to stop the young thugs in their souped-up hot rods re-enacting the Monaco GP in the tunnel and annoying local OAPs with heart conditions?? (Daily Telegraph report)Gortour wrote:Couldn't believe the 10mph... Had one on the way back to Portsmouth too...

Mindless thugs apparently?!!
How dangerous must driving through the tunnel in 4th gear @ 60mph be- shockingly bad behaviour I guess. Best watch our backs before we get arrested and thrown to the wolves as an example!! "Shall we target rapists, or child molesters? Oh no let's go after the really dangerous criminals- those drivers who don't like electric cars"
My reply is GO F*CK YOURSELVES

How f*cking sad.
We did one on Thursday last week. That's what this thread is about. We had no problems although we went at a sensible time in the evening and didn't drive like dicks.

The only "tunnels" i go in are the ones round Chiswick/Clapham and a few round Central London on the odd occasion near Victoria. They are all to he honest very small railway bridges. Yes i love driving in tunnels. I hope there is one soon.

I rarely venture outside the M25.
Because it's been -
20 years in the planning
3 years in the building
Extensively covered in local TV News bulletins and the National Media
Eagerly awaited by everyone involved with performance cars
In short
It has been a pretty big news item
I'm stunned

Lol well all the more reason i should see it and i really hope there is another run soon.
When i drive through Richmond-upon-Thames sometimes, through the town, i can hear it reverberate off all the shops and it is not even a tunnel.
I can assure you i do watch/read the national news though not religiously and extensively.
The Arab Spring itself is pretty interesting in that Britain/USA want to intervene in Libya so readily but fail to do so with the likes of Bahrain and Syria or even Saudi Arabia. William Hague himself stated that the Syria situation was different to Libya as they did not get international consensus but then they did not with Libya when Germany/Russia abstained from the vote initally.

Hey Pony, would be good if you could come down to a Southern meet sometime, its not too far for you to zip down the A3.
Think IVQII is teasing you a tad and its always best to steer away from politics.
Hongkongfuey is planning a southern meet soon and would be great to see you there fella !!
All the best,
Iain
