A303 will go past Yeovil, where I am. You pick up the a30 (iirc) to Exeter at Ilminster. At that point, I turn for Taunton to pick up the m5. A30 is theoretically a little quicker but a god awful road, over populated by HGV's and caravans.Cotty180 wrote:M25 junction 4 to junction 12blatantarrogance wrote:What's your route mate?Cotty180 wrote:

May recommend you take that route, we could meet Ginger Tim on the way (Taunton Deane Services?). Very straight forward from there, pick up the Bodmin road, then after Indian Queens, pick up 'A' road to Newquay.......

Oooooh a convoy! woo!
I'm going to be picking up hath from highbridge so I could meet you all at taunton services too. My sense of direction is truly appalling, I can get to newquay but from there I'll be lost.

What time are you leaving? I could meet you at Yeovil, will take me 3 to 3 1/2 hours to get to Yeovil. It would be easier for me to follow a localblatantarrogance wrote:A303 will go past Yeovil, where I am.Cotty180 wrote:M25 junction 4 to junction 12

Shall we sort a time a little closer? I've not even began to think about it. Would be a timely break for you, feshen up, have a coffee or something.
Ideally, I think I'd like to be leaving here before 1pm, say between 12 and 1. Newquay is 2.5 hours from here.
Where are you coming form Cotty?

Sort time closer to event - check
Midday at Yeovil no probs, I know the route well.
I live in Orpington, Kent. Basically Junction 4 on the M25. I think it took 6 hours last time I went so 3 1/2 hours to Yeovil and 2 1/2 hours to Newquay sounds about right.
Just picked up a long inflatable mattress, im 6 foot so dont want my feet dangling off the end, camping chair and cheap gazebo. Still need to source a new tent my old one is about 20 years old. I like the look of these in a three man size http://seconds.quechua.com/EN/main.html

Sounds like a plan. You guys can have a rest break at mine, I'll brew up some coffee or tea and you can stretch your legs for a bit, have some food etc etc.Cotty180 wrote:Sort time closer to event - check

Tents used to be about chucking money at them and sticking to a hatfull of reccommenable brands. Much more readily available from multiple retailers giving the consumer a great saving. I'd still tend to go for something like Eurohike as they sem to errect and packup in a logical fashion.

Just looked at the map to see where the Taunton Deane services are... It's a long way North of where I was thinking...blatantarrogance wrote:Yes mate, southbound. What will you do? A35 to Honiton& Exeter or via Yeovil to A303 and M5?
Yes, I was intending to use the route I always use, and take A35 to Honiton & Exeter. What route are you intending from the Services?
I would guess at M5 to Exeter, take the A30 straight down, and the A392 into Newquay as easiest. Is that the plan?
If so, is there going to be a meeting point / convoy-joining point in Exeter too?
Cheers

add a bit of extra time for the last bit guys, coming over indian queens is a b**ch at the mo, (new by-pass). as the site is just north of newquay it may be easier comin down the atlantic highway(A39). was stuck on A30 for over 1.5hrs this weekend just about where you turn off for newquay.
on the plus side, if the weather is anything like this weekend should be a blast. will post pics of 2day on beach if anyone wants to see em.
any probs with directions, just PM me.

Will investigate but not unduly worried as it's off-peak. I saw the new junction 1st hand last December, much improved!!!
1.5 hours in bank holiday traffic is much improved to how it used to be!! I remeber some wicked road rage going the other direction as the road reduced to 1 lane!!

cheers for the complement pal. never seem to have a proper camera with me when i need it.
will have some vids of the local B-roads soon as i can find a way of anchoring the camera.

I'm right!! Nathan wins!
St. Anthony's Lighthouse
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
St Anthony's Lighthouse is a lighthouse on St Anthony Head on the eastern coast of the entrance to the harbour of Falmouth, Cornwall.
The lighthouse was built in 1835 by Olver of Falmouth. The light originally came from eight Argand oil lamps. The light source was changed to pressure vapour and later to electricity when electricity was connected in 1954. Today the light is automated, flashing every 15 seconds, with a red sector for The Manacles rocks and a range of 22 miles. The fog horn blasts once every 30 seconds.
St. Anthony's is also the lighthouse featured in the opening credits for the "Fraggle Rock" puppet, and later animated, show. Nearby St. Mawes also featured in some scenes from the programme.
It was just fior the UK version of Fraggle Rock. The French had a chef, the Germans had a dubbed US version.

touche.
but i think you'll find they also used godrevy for certain exterior shots in the show itself as well as a lighthouse in the scilly isles.
of course i may just be blowing smoke out my *ss. damn popular myths.
