OK Guys, this is what we're doing ( me & 1an)

If you book direct with the Le Mans organisers you can get a camping ticket (for car & tent) for 47 euros !! + 9 euros for postage

I'm booking ours now !

Just Tickets have the same deal at £53 ! But you also need to buy 2 Track passes at the same time, therefore no student discount etc !

Anybody who wants to join our little camp is welcome, i'm sure we can arrange a BBQ and entertainment between ourselves :D

Just looked at Norfolk Line, £62 out Thursday and back Monday, same as last year. I think it was about £35 last year, probably still the cheapest though !

Ayup Zoners - Happy New Year to you all!

Just thought I'd try and help out with a bit of info.

If you are going to do you own thing.....bear this in mind......

Beausejour is now zoned. You'll have noticed all the low level fencing and gates as you drove through the camp to get to our spot last year.

What the Frenchies do now is to open the first section of the camp on Wednesday, pack it to bursting point then open the next and so on and so forth. When we arrived on the Wednesday morning I had to get out my contracts and shout at the marshalls until they let us through all the gates to the back of the site. :-x

So, those of you that arrive early will be shepherded into whatever section is open at the time and will get no choice whatsoever in terms of where you want to set up your tent. You will face additional problems if you are trying to reserve space for mates who might arrive on the following couple of days. It will be nigh on impossible to do so. If you are 1 car for example, the security will ensure that you stick to your 35sqm allotted space and they will move people in around you. Last year people arriving on thursday/friday were unable to camp with their friends who had arrived earlier due to the above new method of filling the sites up and it pissed a lot of people off.

Hence why I organise what I do. Guaranteed pitches for individuals or groups that want to be together no matter when you arrive. Lots more space than standard and the guarantee that no late-arriving Belgian will squeeze in on top of you! More security (fencing, marhsalls) so you're less likely to get stuff nicked by gypsies. This year we are adding toilets and showers to the site and also a beer tent. I appreciate that the cost of £245 might sound like quite a lot but to put it in context, it costs a fortune to set this stuff up (over £40,000 this year!). The cost per car for a std camping ticket when you reserve an area more than triples (don't quite know why but it does) then there's the cost of toilets/marquee/fence rental etc etc. £245 is about the lowest I can do it for! Our nearest competitor, Airtrack, charge more than £600 for the same service!

Of course Le Mans can be done cheaper as Kevin as pointed out but it gets busier every year, and also 2008 sees the ACO losing over 150,000 sqm of campsite due to building work for the new football stadium that's going up nearby. So taking that into account, I would imagine Beausejour will be far busier than usual as all those people from Houx Annexe will have to be put in there.

Anyway - that's the info from the inside line. Do as you will and I'm sure we'll see you down there one way or the other!

Cheers Guy! So come on everyone, lets hear your opinions... I'm personally leaning on the side of spending more to get more (it's still hardly an expensive holiday!), but lets hear what everyone else thinks! :)

I've been doing Le Mans for the last 10 years and have stayed on a few campsites and never had a problem arriving Thursday PM and getting a pitch. I will probably leave Weds Evening this year to arrive Thurday Morning as it is getting busier each year.

The WRR Deal is a good one if you want the extras and compare it to others such as Airtrack etc,

A saving of £200 per car is considerable though, if I have to camp a bit further away, I don't see it as a problem. Can't be any further than last year !

As said anyone wishing to join us, they are welcome. As long as we arrive at roughly the same time we will all camp together :D

I'll post up later on when i have time what I think. One question Kevin, booking that £53 ticket, can you arrive on the thursday morning, or is it friday till sunday only? And is that price per pitch as in you could have 4 people in a car.

The camp site is open from the Monday, but the ticket only covers from the wednesday. I think the stewards will charge about 8 euro's per night for Mon & Tues

I've had a chat with the lads coming with me and they prefer the sound of the WRR package so think thats what i'll be doing.

Ian idealy you want to get the ferry booked ASAP as the prices go up nearer the time, for the same days/times we did last year its £38, less than half what it was last year!

As said, i've booked for me and 1an to go DIY

I don't see what you are getting for the extra £200 +

Yes there will be a fence around the site with "security" , sensible precautions like putting valuables in the car solves that one ! In all the times i've been, never heard of a problem.

How much space do you actually need, car, tent, gazebo, sorted !

On-site catering ? Is this subsidised ? How much is anything going to cost ? Is it really that hard to cook a few sausages & Bacon ? If you really can't there are catering wagons on Beasejour for anyone to purchase from.

I would of paid for my camping, my ferry, my fuel there and back, my beer & wine and still not spent as much !!!

This isn't about money either, I have no problem spending if I think i'm getting value for money.

As said before look around the web at what others are doing and make your own mind up.

Good point on the pricing of the catering and drinks Kevin. Since the price of the pitch is going up due to these then are they going to be subsidised prices as food and drink is a massive money maker at these events and to pay for it twice is a bit unfair really.

I could still go either way but would like to here other people opinions especially of what Guy said last night :)

from what i understand from guy last nite we will have a much larger campsite(possibly the same as last year) with our own toilet/shower units, on site catering, marquee/beer tent on our site, bbq most nights, someone will win the raffle of which the prize is a look inside an LMP1 garage while the car and team are there which i believe one neville chamberlain(who ran the chamberlain vipers at le-mans+british gt a few years back) helped sort out.

i was on the phone talking with guy for about 30mins last and he has spent alot of time trying to make things much better this year, im just gona stick with what i no from last year and wrr

think i'm going anyway, will keep an eye on here for where you camp and come for a beer and a gawp maybe. we go every year, minibus full, clan to big now so 5 of us were on about hiring a new M5 estate until we saw the cost! £2000 deposit, some silly amount per day and continental insurance doesnt bear thinking about! dunno how we're getting there yet, prob and up hiring a 2CV or summat!

Hello boys.

This is where we will be this year.....

and maybe, just maybe, the bar will be free. Can't give any confirmed details but I was contacted by some people today who, if they decide to go ahead with what we discussed, will turn the WRR camp into the stuff of legend. We're possibly talking an almighty party, free bar and live music. More on that much later but it might whet the appetite! lol.

Here's the map anyway.
