It's on the list.

Mercedes & BMW Welt got knocked off the list this year, although I was thinking about Goodwood Revival for next year.

The register chairs and other big wigs are too busy picking up awards for themselves usually....

Time to look at this

I suggested that a committee be set up to include Forums & FB groups who have stands there

the reason being is the The National Festival "garden" is a BMW Show organised by the BMW Car Club GB for ALL enthusiasts

the only way it can improve is to bring in new people and fresh ideas

Richard Baxter and the directors as up for this and so far e30 zone, BMW 5 forum, Custom Cars, BMW e39 Owners, e36 Coupe forum are up for it. TMC and M3 Cutters i am waiting fro them to come back to me

While i would love to see it move to a track, i count it will. There is a significant cost involved but if the numbers for Gaydon move up significantly be next year i don't see why it can't be move. Garden has to be embraced for what it is, a static show

By including forums it has changed a bit over the years but they need included in more of the main area ( cutters moaned about this, but they did get hard standing as per their request, but thats another forums issue to raise)

There needs to be better use of the hard standing, this years "driving area" was a waste.

The stage was a good idea, ut it needs to be better set up and needs to look a lot smarter

Traders, times have changed hence we see less traders
Who would the members like to see there, how would you incentivise traders to come

Marshals, again an issue. I have suggested that each forum provide 1 marshal. The layout needs to be finalised a week before and a briefing done on the saturday afternoon. Its simple really, want to be part of it, join the committee and marshal. The main point of this is that each forum/display group will know where they are and can direct their members there.

The displays, more so the regions & registers. It needs to be more of a display and not like a car park. More space beaten cars, will fill out any spare space and if there is more space between cars there's less chance of them damaged when people walk past them and will be easier to photograph

food, this year we had more options but i still think they can do with bringing in another option. and mover them to an area which can accommodate more seating. I like to eat when i sit down, not stand. Also more bins. Such a simple thing but makes a difference

Kids & families.... thoughts

all feedback welcome, don't just sit there and slag it off, suggest improvements after all it is for you guys that the show is done

It was my first time there and my first proper car show (I won't count the Ace Cafe!). I enjoyed it a lot and thought the turnout was huge until I read these comments! I did leave thinking I won't come back for a couple of years as it will probably be exactly the same next year.

Agreed the stage could be smarter and perhaps the presentation made more interesting with music and a big screen showing close ups of the car etc so you can see what's going on from further away etc. I'm sure the cost of that could be covered by showing adverts periodically for the companies who were there. Or maybe get rid of the stage completely and have a presenter and camera man walking around visiting each stand and interviewing the people and some of the club/forum representatives too.

Not sure what they can do to bring more punters in as I have no other shows to compare it too but the above might at least modernise the format a bit.

I gave up on Gaydon a long time ago. For me the problem is you know what you are going to get before you go. I am told the only reason that the carclub keep returning is that for them it is free to rent. Before Gaydon the car club had a two day event at Silverstone with a trackday on the Saturday and concours/ general meet on the sunday. While I except this would have cost a fortune, I see no reason why a single day event at either Rockingham or Mallory park [ both central]could not be done. You could have regions/forums doing single lap parades in the morning ,backed up by some demo runs by older racecars or even new BMW GB M cars and then in the afternoon have prebooked track sessions. Forum and region car could then be park around the outside of the track or on the infield.
This way you are coving all the bases. Oh and try not to do it on the sameday a the Khumo / compact cup or E30 cup to encourage some of these cars to come along.
I fill better for that , time for a cup of tea

Totally agree

Get the Khumo/compacts to have an actual race would be a better idea

Some proper live action would be great
