I'm planning a wee run out with a few mates on the above dates as part of a weeks holiday, fart arsing about.
The general plan is start from somewhere near Edinburgh, head up the A82 (not sure on which way we get there, possibly through the Trossachs), hop on the Corran Ferry and drive along to Lochaline to catch the ferry to Mull where we'd have the first overnight stop.
The Saturday would be back across to the mainland, through the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and northward possibly via Portree on Skye time depending - some excellent driving roads along the way - with the days driving ending in Applecross. The Sunday would be the final leg, round the top road through Durness, Tongue and Dounrey to John O'Groats. I'd have to work out times to see if we'd need to have a stopover (I think we would) on the Sunday.
At the moment we're planning on camping to keep costs down, plus it's more fun and you get better banter.
We won't be going flat out everywhere but we will be driving "enthusiastically" when appropriate. We would have stop off points though to let people catch up. Similarly we aren't impressed by people driving dangerously.
You don't need a fast car for this (we have a diesel Volvo coming!) and it doesn't have to be shiney. Just as long as you're up for a bit of an adventure and a laugh.
Any interest on here?

Same idea as the Zone roam I guess but not as posh
.
I'll keep you posted with our itinerary (big word for me). We'll be in that neck of the woods on Friday.320iAN wrote:i'd consider a meet-up & drive with you for a few mile's, the A82 is my door step & i'm only 3 miles from (Balloch) Loch Lomond
I got a pair of struts from Wocka, I'm not sure if I'll have them turned into coilovers for this trip though. Might just have to run on poverty spec suspensionSanchez wrote:Im off work that week but supposed to be away at a wedding but will see.
PS lugy do you still need front struts?
Ah, I suppose we can't tempt you with fairground attractions or candy floss. Our wee group does quite a lot of random drives (normally just a day effort though), I'll post up our next ones to see if there's any interest.320iAN wrote:i'm now going to be in Blackpool on these dates (9th-12th Sept)sorry

If you are going to do the "circuit of Mull" I would PM "cmcdowall" as he seems to own all the E30's on Mull and know's the roads !!
We were fortunate enough to meet up with him on the roam and had a guided tour of the Island
There are some "sump cracking" potholes if you're car is low and you don't see them !!
