Countdown to lockdown!
10, 9, 8.....
10, 9, 8.....
confused actually about this....thought it would be an opportunity to take part in a really big zone meet, but it seems like something bad has happened and people have chosen to not go....
also judging by the reaction I've seen to previous threads, nobody's really going to know the reason anytime soon....
any other big meets to attempt instead?

Down to organizer thaking £10k+ for a charity event and only giving £2k. Then turns up at Gaydon with about £8k worth of work done and starts to slag off other peoples cars.

This was discussed at the team meeting a few weeks ago, Nothing has been proven either way. It is all in the "alleged" stage. We have known for some time about this rumour but and this is why we are not supporting the event.
Officially the zone will not be having a stand there, We are aware that zoners will attend but please be aware that it is not a "Zone stand" but a stand of zoners if that makes sense.

Good points there Dave. Will it ever be proven? May never know but what will be interesting is hearing what the turn out is like this year in total.d6dph wrote:This was discussed at the team meeting a few weeks ago, Nothing has been proven either way. Last year the zoners stand made up a huge number of the total cars there. If others are feeling the same and theres no zone stand, it could be a quiet 09 bimmerflex.
What i can't get my head around is the fact that despite all the rumours around this, the organisers are going ahead again this year. Which to me doesn't make sense if you really think about it.

Also I like to put this is rumors and I am not saying this is fact ( not getting into trouble for anything liable here
)
I was told the organiser is a copper which would make plenty of sense into things.

just reading some of your comments.if this really is a charity event as it says. all profits going to charity .why cant you just turn up with a £10 cheque made out to the charity of bimmerflex choice??????????????? i know it says profits but surely all the trade stands should cover most of the rental of the land for the day

Because despite a few "zone cheques" going direct to the charity, There could still be money going elsewhere.e30m3cabrio wrote:just reading some of your comments.if this really is a charity event as it says. all profits going to charity .why cant you just turn up with a £10 cheque made out to the charity of bimmerflex choice??????????????? i know it says profits but surely all the trade stands should cover most of the rental of the land for the day
Interesting to note that as one of the biggest BMW forums about, NO ONE has registered and defended the point! Considering last year the e30Zone had a fantastic display, you'd have thought they'd have come on touting for business?

I've known Richard for nearly seven years now and I can personally vouch along with the majoroty of my readers who have been to the show for the past five years that he puts a lot of hard work and effort into this show, and as you can imagine it's not easy organising a show of this magnitude year on year whilst holding down a full time job. Bimmerflex is only one of three BMW dedicted shows in the UK, and in our opinion the best for attracting some of the best cars on our scene not to mention a superb opportunity to meet other like minded people and generally just enjoy yourself. What's more it's in memory of his mum who sadly died of cancer, and indeed the very inspiration for starting this show in the first place. Bimmerflex is not a business to Richard he does it all for UK registered charities and raises a lot of money for a lot of good causes. Last year 440 cars attended the show which is extremely impressive, if we start listening to the odd few who are thrying their very best to spread malicious rumours, we may not have any shows left, and that would be very sad indeed.

Any ideas what sort of profit is made and how much is donated to the Charity?
Maybe by Richard publishing this sort of info, these sorts of rumours and threads may not happen to start with.
Another suggestion might be to have a member from each of the various forums/clubs help out on the organising committee (I'd be interested).
I am sure that Richards intensions are honourable and a bit of transparency to things may help gain more support.
It would be a shame to see an event loose support but for the lack of a bit of communication.
I can't make it this year as I have some complimentery tickets to the Histori Sports Car Club race event at Brands this weekend, otherwise I'd go.
Louise, maybe PBMW could do a write up on the event, how much was raised and how the money is being put to use by the charity?
Lets sort this out, get to the bottom of the issue and move on.

BMW5.co.uk are going with around 50 5ers
Seems theres little credibility in the rumours.

I've heard plenty of different sides to the story but still nothing to prove inocence. Also I felt like a fish out of water last year and it didn't appeal to me. Sorry but Santapod pulled off a much more enjoyable day and I didn't feel like I was going to get stabbed every five mins.

Thats actually an excellent idea. If we can squash the rumours and move on, I for one would be more than happy to support the event.GC318 wrote:Any ideas what sort of profit is made and how much is donated to the Charity?

Louise. My father also died of cancer when I was quite young. Thats one of the main reasons I feel as I do re Bimmerflex with "theres no smoke without fire" in mind. If the organiser (or indeed, an article in this years PBMW) can prove all the rumours wrong, then I'd be happier.......much happier.

I didn't make the HSCC event at Brands in the end so I went to Bimmerflex instead.
I have to say the event was very well attended and everyone I saw seem to be having a good time. Got some pleasing comments about my Tourer and met some realy nice Polish guys with their e36's.
Lots of nice E30's (will post some pic later). I was mainly an E30 cabbie outing it would seem with a nice spattering of e30 M3's. A cracker of an Alpina and an e30 M3 with an E46 M3 engine
Lots of 2 and more doors plus a couple of nice Baur's.
If we can straighten out all these 'alleged' issues it would be great to see a zone stand there next year.
