Yeah, what's happened to the pug? Haven't seen you at any competitions?

Took the Toyota round Knockhill last night, one of the slowest cars out there but she held her own, until the back box fell off! Seems the rear exhaust hangers aren't that robust, they bent and the rear box fell down! Stayed on thanks to the rear beam, no damage but a bit noisey! So I'm afraid I'll be fixing that on Sunday... hopefully, the wife has other ideas for me this weekend!
'89 325i - was an SE but not anymore, was bronze-beige metallic (yeuch!) but now techno-violet (thankfully)
'89 Toyota Corolla GTi-16 - track, hillclimb & sprint car (yeeha!)
'08 Buell XB12Ss - American engineering at it's 'best'... good fun though

Sorry to hear that mate.

I moved house in June, it's been hectic, too much to do: house + kids + cars...!!!

I am enjoying it yes, getting better with each run out too! Though some of the cars are very well prepared... some have gearboxes which cost more than my whole car put together! 8O You just can't drive that fast on the road, it's great to get the thrill in a safe environment! :D

Will you be out next year? Seems they are adopting the full MSA rules in 2010 so we'll be in the modified car class (I'm in A2 at the moment 'cause she's MOT'd etc.) however they're also talking about changing the engine classifications which will mean 1600cc will be in with 2000cc! I'm not pleased about that, when you see the times people are running most 1600's are on a par with smaller lighter 1400's in the class below and the 1800's are closer to 2000's but not quite there... if I end up in the up to 2000cc class I'll need to find 5secs from somewhere and that's just more money than I can afford to spend! :-x According to MSA rules (assuing they are adopted) if I drop a 2-litre into my car, because it didn't come as standard in a Corolla at the time of manufacture then I'd be moved up into the Sport Libre class and have to compete with Lotus, Porsche, Caterhams etc. - no chance! Rant, rant, rant! :x

So, next year might be the last chance for 1.6's to compete on a reasonably level playing field.

For 2010 I'll be looking for a 320iS engine to drop into my E30 and take her hillclimbing! winkeye

Small turnout
Weather was ok(breezy but no rain)

About the same(ish) size as Callander

Couple of nice cars there (MK1 Escorts) and a few obligitory turds as usual

personally i thought it was quite an acceptable turnout for a northern meet (6 cars) especially taking into account that it was all very last minute

 probably be better next year with more organisation

Did anyone go to Culzean (was Callander)? Pity it's the same day as a hillclimb... :(

Gray, seems you're the event organiser now, that's two shows this year (that I'm aware of) and you organised both!

So, any plans for something in October?

The final competition of the year is this weekend (at Doune), then there's a charity event at Kames the following weekend, after that it's the school week (kids 24/7  ) but there after I'm free, so may actually be able to get along to a meet! :D At last.

Well if there are any meets in Oct or Nov then I may come along but not in either the E30 (needs MOT'd) or the Toyota (needs repaired after binning her into a tyre wall yesterday  )

But I could come along to look at other peoles cars...

Maybe we should start talking about 2009... I see the 'roam' is being organised, but what else for next year?

What's the script re: 'Top Gear Live'? That sounds interesting...

As you've mentioned the roam Gary,I've been thinking about that

I thought about something similar to run along side it, for those who think the roam is too expensive or for those who,for whatever reason, are unable to commit to the full Roam weekend.

I reckoned on a 2 day event in close proximity to the roam route, with the possibility of meeting up with Neil and the others on the Saturday night

I've also got another suggestion for those who might be interested in a slightly longer road trip

As most folks will be aware, there happens to be a small gathering of Motoring enthusiasts in a town in Northern France that goes by the name of Le Mans. This gathering takes place in June of each year where the host a 24Hr endurance race

For 2009 the date is 13th and 14th of June

Whilst the trip down and back would be adequate for some, i'd be looking to add on a little excursion for the more enthusiastic drivers in our midst

I was thinking of heading accross on the Friday and camping Fri/Sat/Sun then heading to a small town in Germany called Nurberg which happens to be located on the old Nurbergring Nordschliefe (more commonly known as "The Ring")

If anyone is interested in Either of these wee excurions,Please let me know

If booked in good enough time we could get the ferry crossings for approx £40 return (Dover to Dunkerque) with Norfolk line or £70+ with P+O for the Dover to Calais crossings

I'd love to do the Nurburgring!

I'll have to check the 2009 Sprint & Hillclimb calendar before committing to any dates though, I haven't seen it yet but I'll planning on competing for most of the season next year (came 3rd in class this year even though I only competed for half the season, I would've been 2nd if I had one more round under my belt and could've challenged for 1st if I'd competed the whole season - you use your best 7 results out of 10 rounds, I only competed in 5 rounds this year so I want at least 7 scores next year).

Aye, that'd be good, a pit crew!

Actually, for the likes of Doune Hillclimb I can get a limited no. of people in for free (I ask for support crew passes).
