I went to the Bromley Pageant at Norman Park and could not believe the lack of BMW entries. No show stands or club area's for Gemrmany's finest anywhere. Is there any reason for this?, bad advertising maybe?, there we're only a handful of BMW's in the show ground aswell. The rest of the show was very good with some great retro rides.

Here's my car next to a golden oldie!

Here's one for the Yank Tank lovers, this Mustang was gorgeous

Maybe one to consider next year? :D

It's weird but this is one show I give a wide birth to. I went 2 years on the trot and despite leaving very early the quees meany i got to the got at midday. It always had such p!ss poor organisation. Yet they still had the front to charge full whack at the gate despite their cock ups!

What was the traffic like this year?

I went to this show and i won't be going again! £12 to get in, then you have to buy a program. The food is a rip off. I bought a chicken burger, chips, a cup of p*ss that was passed off as tea, a cheeseburger and a can of drink. £14!!!!!!!!!!!
There was a definate lack of BMWs on show and the auto jumble was almost non existant.
I have heard that it has been taken over from Practical Classics and is now it seems run as a business instead of an event for like minded car enthusiasts.
I'm off my soapbox now having aired my views!
Did anyone else go, and what did you think?

Pre order your ticket as it cheaper.
One make parking area is free.
You don't have to buy a program.
Take your own food and drink like lots of other people I saw with picknics.

Its a shame it clashed with Le Mans weekend as there was a distinct absence of TVR's and the local Cobra club.

Way too many new cars. I saw a MINI clubman FFS its a new car and its supposed to be a classic event.

Friend of mine was there with a few of his cars. He has started a classic car club where you pay to be a member and you use points to drive the cars http://www.theaveburycollection.co.uk/ He was down the bottom of the field near the arena

Things haven't changed at Bromley in the last 21 years then? I went in '87. 200 mile drive each way, and the the show was rubbish - by far the worst I've ever been to. This far down the line, I can't remember specific details other than the extortionate prices and the length of time it took to get in and out. I swore I'd never go back and I haven't.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

I've been twice and both years it's been extortianate. the traffics been horrific. Whats the point of turning up at midday and only having half a day there? Makes the day even more expensive. I gave up on it.

Ardinglys a far better show and cheaper. Hellinglys a goodun as well.

I have been going to Bromley for at least 5 years as an exhibitor in the car clubs section (NSU Owners Club). I always have a good look around and although there were very few BMWs in the club displays this year, there were lots in the One Make Parking, including some very nice e30s. I organise the NSU Club display at the Ardingly show in a few weeks time and I can tell you that it can be a problem getting people to commit in advance to show their car. Even when you manage to get enough cars for the stand you can almost guarantee that someone will break down on their way to the show and might not make it on time if at all. However, when it goes right and you get good feedback from the public and event organisers it is worth it. B7 (or anyone else) come up and say hello if you are at Ardingly this year. I will be on the NSU Owners Club stand and the only NSU Prinz 4 at the show.

To put it into perspective Gaydon is £8.50 and a pre paid ticket to the Bromley Pageant is £10. I dont think and extra £1.50 is extorionate. And you cant display your car at Gaydon unles you are a member of the club

Plus at Gaydon you get full free access to the museum, the facilities are 100 times better and the queues are minimum to get in. Plus it's full of nice like minded people who all have a vested interest.

And it's a club event that costs a fortune to arrange, hence you have to be a member to show your car.

RMT. I used to arrange the Ardingly show for the TSSC (triumph sports six club) and it drove me mad. You'd get the "yeah I'll be there" and???? they just wouldn't turn up. Then you had the cheeky barstewards who would use the club to gain free entrance to him and his mates or family and they'd p1ss off for the day and you wouldn't see them. No help with the stand and their car would be there and you wouldn't know naff all about it. They'd just stroll back at 4.30, get in their car and go home, again no help with taking the stand down.
