Keep this thread on topic please!
Either post constructively, or don't bother to post at all.

The car has its interior now and we are just waiting for one front suspension leg to come back from Keri at WMS as hes been using it to adapt his 4-pot kit for the M3...
Other than that, Andrew would be able to tell you more...

Ta! This is the prototype/mockup kit, it'll take a while before it can be used on a car, also there might be problems getting them inside the 17's on this car - watch this space and pray!Ant wrote:Looking good Keri!

Just for reference, here are two more pics of what we HOPE will go on Rob's car: Note the rusty 280mm M3 disc for scale!

Im crossing everything waiting for CPC to let me know if its a gooer... we know we can shrink it by 10mm or so but thats not the point as when i had the Brembo kit that Kos bought off me originally fitted by GTS who did the car originally, the brake discs were SO SO close, 1-2mm from the ball joints and i couldnt get a decent 2inch dished wheel to clear the bulky caliper without ending up 10mm plus outside the front arches... so Its all down to the positioning of the disc relative to the centerline of the axle / balljoints and also how bulky that caliper is..
Here's to hoping but lets be realistic and say with the general 'paradigm' that this car has been in throughout its tortuous history, the likelihood is not great that they will fit.. im just preparing myself for the same old story so i can be pleasantly surprised when they DO fit!!
Im still about everyone, but ive backed off Phil alot in terms of rushing him or trying to because this project DID start out as a 'finish it please' and as you ALL know ended up being a 'oh, it needs totally restoring' one instead...
and i said i wasnt going to get drawn into malicious snubs and attacks from he-who-shall-remain-nameless who has 'posted' alot on my thread (if you call that posting)... there's no point, even when the comment/posting is implying criminal activity... I will deal with this in person in good time. thats all im going to say about that.
Later all

this is not the place for this stuff, from me or anyone.
I have NO idea what this means... I will happily explain the history of this car to you, what got taken from the car where etc etc... its like the rumours about the engine never running that got to Phil, I have no idea WHY... I will happily tell you the story in detail Argos.
So im communicating via PM with Argos, will endeavour to keep this on topic and track from now on
;)

Its good being 35 or 38 innit...
Anyone would have thought we were 3.5 and 3.8 years old till now.
A bit of maturity goes a long way
BTW THE DISCS FIT!!! news just in from Phil... all we gotta do now is see if there is enough radial clearance and disc face 2 wheel center for those hooge calipers to fit...
Measurements being sent now... just in case not, anyone got any 18" bbs split rims (and i mean the ones with the stepped polished rims and mesh center, not the 850i ones...) - he said knowing the answer would be 'no' lol and also wants 5 superb 3-piece AC Shnitzer (OZ made) Type II 17"s?

no connection with the seller, but they've hooked up a friend with some S Class polished 18's and they were tip top

Markus Glaum you mean?
He supplied all my carbon bits for the M3... I know Zoom and the painters scratched the rear wing up a bit but i must say on that that Im not that happy about the finish of my rear wing (i.e the carbon gelcoat) as it needs to be open carbon look to look the best and its not really up to it... its just hard to tell what is damage from mishandling and what is mould-based... is there any way of deep polishing/refinishing that kind of surface BTW anyone?
Thanks for your help maxfield, let's see if he comes back to me on the wheels.. i missed a totally immaculate set 4 months ago on ebay which should have gone for over a grand and went for just £700 or so... i was gutted... no dough or takers for my wheels at the time...
Shame!

I would talk to a boat builders about it, sounds like a proper flatting then compatible clear lacquer coats would fix it? Whatever you do, make sure it's tested on a spare bit in case the paint reacts or peels off again!MFree wrote:I know Zoom and the painters scratched the rear wing up a bit but i must say on that that Im not that happy about the finish of my rear wing (i.e the carbon gelcoat) as it needs to be open carbon look to look the best and its not really up to it... its just hard to tell what is damage from mishandling and what is mould-based... is there any way of deep polishing/refinishing that kind of surface BTW anyone?

Just a note to add to this....it's going to be TIGHT in the 17's due to the deep-dish! Beyond that we'll have to wait until the brackets etc etc are done, so fingers crossed all round!MFree wrote:BTW THE DISCS FIT!!! news just in from Phil... all we gotta do now is see if there is enough radial clearance and disc face 2 wheel center for those hooge calipers to fit...

Nuff o that bumhole chatter... who like me loves a girl that CAN spanner not IS A spanner?

You just can't beat a girl with a ruddy great tool in her hand can you?
(i dont mean 'beat' as in 'hit' although that would probably not be wise either... i meant 'cant top')

here's a quick update shot of some of the bodywork getting onto the car (Phil should probably wipe the dust off first... but it was about 11.00pm!)
And we have had the debate about the angle of the rear wing.. if you look at the DTM cars from 1990-91 they did have this rediculous angle on them... i have the Evo II AND carbon splitter to add to the front to try and balance the aero... but personally i think at this angle it will be simply a drag surface and have little aero effect at all...
but then again BMW raised the M3 rear bootlid to try and get the wing up into clean-er air as the higher it is the more effect it will have... i guess the E30 is not the most aerodynamic shape in the world!! even back then!
We are going to attempt to shim it back about 10-15 degrees though just so as it doesnt pull the bootlid off as i hit 100mph...
LOL

no mate... i cant.. umm the front end is still work in progress...
this kind of thing doesnt take long tho and the workrate just went up by about 800% so thats why we are seeing progress...
I agree with you Argos about the door trims... i wanted Markus's Carbon ones but he's withdrawn them from sale now... yeah some genuine M3 ones would be good and also not a rear seat from a cabrio either, as that was for the benefit of the Rollcage but it looks MUCH worse than Kos said it would!
